Is anyone else participating in the Wildflower Tri up at Lake San Antonio this weekend? 'Spokes and I will be there with our support "team" doing the MTB TRI. First time, I hear it's a really fun event. It's suppose to be the "Woodstock" TRI, bunch of hippies, imagine!
Good luck and have fun!!! Wow, I checked the participant list, there are 1,050 people in the MTB race!!!!
There are 45 in the 50+ class 39 of which are 60+ and 8 are 70+ and the oldest is 78!!!. Wow!!!! Maybe after I get my knee fixed I can swim and run. This would be fun to do next year!!!:bang: I guess at 52 I have no excuses, eh????:?: P.S. Have you booked your massage??? Can I have one too????
My GF is doing the Olympic distance (road) tri on Sunday and I was planning on bringing a mtb to ride around while she's out on the course, have you been to Lake San Antonio before? Curious what the trails in the immediate area are like. Woodstock 'n hippies you say, can I buy cheese pizza and bean burritos out of VW vans in the parking lot? :drunk:
This is my first time up there so I'm not familiar with the area. I was curious about Firestone in Santa Ynez it's on the way up/down off the 101 and I understand there are some trails there but I don't know if they're open to the public all the time or only on event days. Our race is Saturday morning so we'll be around to watch the other events. Lynn
I think the Firestone/Santa Ynez Classic is on property operated by a mtb club, open weekends on a pay for use basis: http://www.ridesb.com/sgdc_activities.htm We'll be heading up to Paso Robles Saturday morning and then out to the lake later in the afternoon when they open the roads back up. Good luck in your race! Ryan
I've ridden up there a couple times - almost all dirt road, the "trails" are also quite wide for the most part. Rolling and non-technical, and very soft in places.
