This is my first Ride Report so please bear with me.

So I didn't really know what to expect on this ride. I asked some of the friends I usually ride with, but they weren't much help. What do you expect from a bunch of shuttle monkeys? No offense to all the shuttle monkeys out there.

I should have known it wouldn't be a leisurely stroll when Weyland(dubjay) was going to be in our group. The loop we did was just over 11 miles and the climbing reminded me of El Moro where you turn a corner and that infomercial voice pops in your head, "but wait there's more!" Of course all the climbing means there's some downhill and while it wasn't the most exciting stuff out there, it was fun to ride something new.

The weather was perfect as you'll see in the videos, and everyone in our group made it out unscathed. We did hear some chatter on the radios about someone going down, but didn't get any details. Hopefully it wasn't too serious.

So here's the first climb of the day up Sandtrap. I actually didn't notice that much sand.

Heading towards S. Loma Ridge. Nice views from this section. Also notice the lady in the pink shirt. The guys were laughing because it seemed like anytime we stopped she passed us.

Coming down one of the two singletracks, Bolero.

We ran into some climbers on our way down Bolero.

Heading to Bolero Springs - the water here was used for the cattle in the area back in the day

The Sinks - "an iconic geological formation called "the Sinks,” often compared to a mini-Grand Canyon"

Riding down other singletrack for the day, Limestone Ridge. Just a heads-up, this ones almost 7 minutes long and 750mb, so it might take a while to load.

Final section of Limestone Ridge. Of course my memory card becomes full and the footage stops as we're coming down the best part of the trail.

The end. I hope they'll open Limestone Canyon on a regular basis like Bommer Canyon. Like I said earlier, the downhill sections aren't super technical, but it would be great to have a new trail to ride.

I'm not sure if Beth(Elisheva) was the only one from STR, but thanks to everyone who was working out there.

I haven't been on that Bolero singletrack. Got a map?
    Was it near Bolero Spring?

I'll try to scan the map I have later. It's near the bottom of S. Loma Ridge, pretty close to Bolero Springs.

We got there kinda late, so missed most of the STR/Dirty Girlz group, but still had a fun time in Limestone. I was on my rigid SS and for some reason, we also decided to climb Sandtrap and S. Loma Ridge instead of going the way of Limestone Canyon. It was a PITA to try and climb, but it was all in good fun.... I think.

Pretty place, glad I got to ride there and suffer. We met up with some STR people afterwards at Tustin Brewery and had a good time.

Nice riding with you, Carl. I saw you and Wey on your way to Whiting, but I didn't want to deafen you guys with my horn, so I didn't honk.

It looked like you had enough guys there for support so we didn't even ask if you guys needed anything.

I really had fun working yesterday. A few horses, plenty of hikers, but ALOT of bikers. I think the general consensus is that the event was a sucess and I overheard our naturalist commenting about how smoothly things ran. It is refreshing to see an event with a good number from STR and other organizations be friendly and courteous to one another all the while riding and having a good time. STR sent a very positive message to many of us at IRC yesterday.

Good footage, too. I missed all of that!

    Another Great Day to ride

The Dirty Girlz joined the fun and explored Limestone. We had Speckeltrout representing LA, got a little funky with the lens shot and enjoyed our So Cal winters day.

gone2vegas: I haven't ridden in Limestone Canyon (yet) and I'm just curious: In the three climbing videos, the climb appears to be pretty gentle and yet a lot of riders stalled. Is it that the video isn't doing the climb justice?

I know that sometimes climbs in the pic are steeper than they appear and I'm guessing that's the case but wanted to ask :?:

Thanks for posting up the video footage! I look forward to my opportunity to ride this area soon

It was steeper than it looks in the video. If you watch some of the riders coming down it, I think you get a better idea. Also, there were some steps, rocks and areas with loose dirt where you could lose traction. I think the obstacles made it harder than the steepness. If this section was just smooth fireroad, everyone would have made it no problem and there probably wouldn't be any video of it.

That was a real fun place to ride. Sure hope they open it to the public again soon.
