My step dad "Sponge Bobby Bondurant" was riding down Van Duessen Rd. here in Big Bear and of course was flying down like he usually does and came around a corner and there was a truck. He went head first into the truck. I was not with him. I got a call from my step mom saying Bobby broke his leg can you come get him, we're on Van Duessen. Drove over and he was unable to move and had tons of blood pouring out his nose. Luckily I have a full carpet kit in my truck and used the bottom board as a stretcher. We loaded him on it and five of us lifted him into the truck. Raced to the hospital. He ended up with a broken leg just below the knee. Apparently it is so bad with the angle and length he requires surgery to have pins put in. His knee was too swolen to do it immediately so he goes back tuesday for a swelling check. If it is good then he will get surgery, if not will have to wait another week. His knee looks as big as a cantaloupe. He is completely immobilized on the couch till surgery.

So needless to say, don't go fast down fire roads AND take your turns on the outside so you can see oncoming traffic!

Sorry to hear bout your stepdad. This is why I slow down around corners and intersections. Just remember...We're not the only ones on the trails.

Thanks for posting Amy. Bobby sent me a text while we were at Northstar. So sad, sounds like he will be out for a while. He told me when he saw the truck coming towards him he thought he was going to die. We are so glad it's not any worse than it is.
