Thanks Chewyeti for the idea to use the tube as a sling, it proved useful today.

Wasn't for me, but for a friend of mine, Jonathan (coolbreeze) Took a spill and broke his collarbone this morning, used the sling idea to support his arm. Thanks again.

Looks like it was yesterday only. Yeah these tubes are junk, but for $2.00 I don't feel bad when I give out a tube out on the trails.

My new bike is tubeless ready (rims & tires), so I'll be thinking about converting.:-k But, since I have not had many flats, and I run 40psi (preference as I hate the running flat feeling) it's low on my list since the cost and maintenance is fairly high. As stated previously, old school and lazy play into the mix as well.

Tubeless, when done right (UST rims & UST tires), is awesome!!! I ran them dry also and never really had a problem, except that I was not using mavic ust valves. When I switched them over, they were too good to be true.

Last week I was riding up Holy Jim, at a pace that was particularly grueling for me. Half a mile from the top, I got the dreaded SSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. As soon as I figured out it was not a snake, I realized it was a puncture, and a rather bad one because of the loudness.

There I was: half a mile from the top, my tire hemorrhaging precious air, and I was going to have to stop and fix a flat. That was going to TOTALLY disrupt my groove. And THAT made me mad. My mind snapped and I told myself, @#$% THIS! RIDE UNTIL IT'S @#$% FLAT! @#$% THE TIRE!

So ride I did... and then the hissing quieted a little... and then a little more... and in about 150 feet, the leak was gone. And THAT made me happy. I was so happy that I didn't have to fix a flat, that I felt like Landis after doping and cruised the rest of the way.

I had gone from tired, to angry, to gleeful, all in the space of a minute. But it was the Stan's that saved me from having to trade ride-time for for wrench-time. To me, that's worth the added expense and labor to maintain the tubeless system.

And they lived happily ever after.
