I ride West Ridge into Caspers then take Oso trail to the top of the park and drop Coldwater down to San Juan. OK, Oso sucks but you put a monster loop together that way.

I just rode Bell View Trail this morning and all I can say is that I am very disappointed with the equestrians that chose to ride the trail while it was still soft and wet. Many sections are absolutely DESTROYED! The residents of Coto have plenty of riding trails made of decomposed granite that can easily handle the horses after the rains. Even a couple of hikers that I chatted with were really pissed at the equestrians. I am not saying the trail should be smooth, but it is really bad. I'm kinda okay with the fact that their horses crap all over the trail, but they should show some courtesy after the rains. Next time I will stop and take some photos. Make sure you wear a mouth guard so you don't chip a tooth from all the chatter.

I live in RSM and can easily get to that trail via the waterfall entrance. Once you leave the houses behind, you are in a different world with forever views. I agree, the bench lookout is one of the nicest places to stop for lunch and take in the scenery. It is always a good workout, regardless of the elevation gain. Fun trail for sure.

I am convinced that their are equestrians that ride those areas knowing that they are screwing up the trails for bikes. That seems to be their intent. It was admitted to me by the horses owners in West Sedona.
