Didnt ride but jogged up the MTB trail (12 miles, 2,400k ft) behind my place at 5am...was finished at 7:20ish...before the heat! I'm beat nevertheless.

Rode Mt. Pinos today. The temps were in the 70's for the most part although it did get a little warm under the sun. A few showers and some great beer from Monster Mash made it a great day. 68 on our way down the hill to 112 going through Santa Clarita. Was a good day to be in the mountains.

Started at 6am today in Wildwood park, rode 17 miles with cool starting temps at 67 degrees and finished at 8:45 and a nice temp of 77. Very Pleasant ride.

Me ... Rode 73 miles on the Road ... first half good along coast PCH from HB to San Clement ... not bad... decided to go back different way (Aliso / Irvine) to avoid Laguna Beach / CDM traffic...spend 1 1/2 + in highs 90's and low 100s with humidity..saw 104 several times on the garmin...that hurt a bit...I got slower which just mean more time exposed...oh well survived... cold shower felt good but started sweating again as soon as I got out.

I agree! I left at 9am from mission viejo and rode into the luge, then sage scrub then edison viejo, what an extreme torture session, rode 18 miles and climbed 3000ft!! The luge was manageable but by the time I was going back into whiting it was really getting too hot! I knew I had to cruise home when I started getting the goosebumps, definitely not good a sign during the middle of the day :-s

i have to report that after my two cold dos xx yesterday, i decided that 4pm was and excellent time to ride the oaks. It was 92 degrees. I had a duran duran concert that night so i figured I gotta work off some of that future booze. About half way up the "new bitches" , being drenched in sweat and hearing my pulse in my helmet, i wondered if there was a serioius malfunction with me for thinking this was a great idea?! I actually for the first time in a while granny geared it in some sections, went up to robbers roost, came down the ridge, bombed the chutes, and by the time I hit Irvine park I had rain drops hitting my face!! 100oz of water, 10miles and 1140 calories later I actually felt great!

I rode up to Chantry Flat at 7am today to ride the Zion loop. I thought with all the tree cover it would be tolerable...not. I ran out of water before the the last climb up to the parking lot. Had a good time anyway.

I spent the weekend in Laughlin - it was 127-ish. Saw a lot of bikini-clad women. Saw zero people riding bikes.

I considered a hike (took place yesterday) from Chantry down and back up to Mt. Wilson and back down...I opted out because I assumed the cover would not make much of a difference. Glad I skipped out.

Rode this am again at 5am...cool 72* when I started. #-o

Moro/LCWP was empty late afternoons this weekend. Started at Ridgepark yesterday at 4:30 and it was 90+ on Bommer. I rode three hrs. on Sat. and saw no riders, hikers or disoriented beach goers. Saw some people in bathing suits wandering up from Crystal Cove on Moro yesterday. Get a kick out of the ones in sandals and no hats asking for directions -usually at the foot of I Think I Can, as they face the first big move of the adventure.:)
