So this morning I woke up, gathered my gear, and headed down to the quail hill trailhead to attend my first ever docent-led ride through the quail hill areas.

It was a very nice ride, about 14 miles with plenty of climbing (which I did mostly in the middle ring after being inspired by our SSing leader), some ST hike-a-bike, and two fun, flowy singletracks. I didn't really meet anyone by name except for some semi-regular customers bob and beth that have come into jax a few times (always see bob at santiago oaks).

Anyways, besides _____ (insert name here) who left before the ride started with a suspected blown shock, were any other STR members on that ride???

I was the dude in the 3/4 length shorts with the subaru gary fisher jersey, riding the trek remedy.

    Dutch,

I was on that ride with you. I was in the back with Carrie Harden, fellow Trail Angel who was sweeping for Robin. I did not expect that much climbing. Robin kept up a good pace and the ride was challenging. Weren't those views beautiful? My favorite part was climbing up out of the Nix parking lot on the single track and then back down where we paralleled the 73.

Just tonight I was encouraging a fellow STR member to sign up for a ride w/IRC.

Hey, I was on that ride too. In fact, I was the inspiring SSing leader guy (who fell in the dirt on the first rutted descent). Glad you enjoyed the ride. Next time should be even better because the two closed trails will be back open. Our new bridges should be ready for use within 10 days.

I was the dude that bailed out. I was pissed I had to leave because I do enjoy riding in that area, good trails, good views and I can there from home. I can never do the weekend one's, weekday's are easy for me but they don't seem to come up that often.

Not sure why the shock failed, but the bike is currently in the shop awaiting inspection.

Glad to hear that it was a good ride, I figured it would be. Looks like I better get my name on the list for the next one soon because it looks like we have some interested STR'ers.

Funny you should ask, Dutch, Elisheva, and I talked about the new fridge system at the top of Rabbit Run.

It works fine and now I know all my neighbors.

Fantastic rides around there. I can empathize; my shock decided to spew all it's oil after about 5 years of trouble-free use. My last ride I did sans-oil and it was horrible. You did the right thing because you could have caused more damage by riding on it. :-s

Yes, I immediately recognized your face, just took me awhile to place you!

And Chopper, remember what I said about your new refrigerator system.....keep it to a 5gal keg..... and then next time, let your neighbors contribute:lol:

That way, everybody keeps smiling and remains friends!

Dude, I think I talked to you a couple of months back when I was looking at the Colnago CX bike at Jax.

    Hmm, small world.
