Seriously! Somebody put 20+ Speed Bumps on my downhill!

I was riding Live Oak this morning with Alissa and one of my favorite weekday morning trails was littered with speed bumps! Now the climb is not worth the downhill. I realize they are for runoff but the rain was last month and its not even like I can jump these bumps because they have big ruts dug out before the bump so I have to go slow! Seriously?

And on Sunset. Not much of a big deal there though, just lift the front wheel over them and keep going.

Not much of a big deal on Sunset UNTIL you don't see one, like I didn't 2 weeks ago = OTB. Result = fractured radius at the elbow, ouch! And that happened on the first water bar I think I encountered. Had to ride down the rest of the way in total pain, which would have been a blast because that trail is awesome. See pic below. Sorry your trail is a bummer Pamela - at least you saw them coming! - - Donny

Which Live Oak is that? the one that goes through O'Neill? Is it before Vista?
I was going to be there this Sunday. Thanks for heads up, I'll keep an eye out for them. Will try to remember and take pictures.

It´s pretty easy to learn and is a good skill to have.
Practice on a smooth slight hill, get into normal descending position, pedals level, weight off the saddle and back, arms slightly bent. Then lean weight further back and pull up on the bars to lift the front wheel.
Cover the rear brake too in case you really lift it too high, though initial attempts will probably ony get the wheel a few inches off the ground.
    Good luck.:)

San Juan really needed them in a few spots...They (some SDMBA peeps) are fix/taking some bumps out of Cowels (Mission Trails) cause they were on switchbacks

I tried to hop a log going way faster than I have ever hopped anything before (cause I for got the log was there and didn't see it/remember til last second). The back tire nipped it and launched me. I broke my neck. But I'm ok...still riding, just not gonna hop any more logs.

a downhill is still a downhill. its always worth going down........

preload the fork too.....that is push down on the front, then pull on the bars...while you keep a finger on the rear brake so if you pull too hard you can skweez the brake.....got all that?

Are you guys serious... I will bring my laptop with me and read the directions while I am riding my bike down live oak next time... you are such boys! :)

I will just find another fun downhill to ride in the mornings....

Next time the people that installed the speedbumps should put a caution Speed Bump ahead sign out. ;)

I love that you call water bars, speed bumps. They're mostly likely there to preserve the trail in case of future rains. but that's, cool complain about people doing trail work because you are unable to lift your front tire. maybe you should find a fun road to ride down to in-N-out.

Although I appreciate what you're saying about the water bars and adapting to the trail vs. the trail adapting to you, you have NO right knocking people and speaking so disrespectfully at them and making such condescending statements. Consider revising your statement...
