On the LPQ night ride: I turned into the slope a bit too much at the bottom of a steep chute and the front wheel washed out, sending me knee-first into a rock protruding from the side slope. I rode out fine, bit after 14 stitches and finding a nicked tendon I am now on crutches for a few days.

A reminder to put the 1st aid kit back in the car. Had no rags either and it bled the whole way home:

Most carnage pics don't do justice to the wound thereby diminishing our manliness. I think this one does the trick:

Half man, half machine...my new friend for the next few days.

I go see an ortho surgeon tomorrow for an opinion on the tendon damage. I'm not so worried about that as the ER docs didn't sound concerned, more being cautious. I'm more concerned about not ripping out the stitches given where the gash is. Hence for once I will wear the contraption!

Too bad Pacman wasn't there to play with your leg guts with a first aid kit like he did for someone else...

Not tunnel 5... it was that one on the east side where you ride out to the end of the finger on the mesa and then drop down steeply back into tunnels. We usually re-enter tunnels this way after riding crossings.

Yeah had to clean some blood of the car mats but luckily none on the white carpet in my place. Why anyone would ever put down white carpet is beyond me #-o

Ya--we refer to that as Tunnel 5, since it was the 5th one we found for ourselves. Was it because of those super loose righthand down-sloped curves?? Those things were so nice and firm not too long ago.

Its tunnel #4 for me. But yeah thats the one. It was the last sweeping chute before the two steeps right at the end. Usually I ride a bit on the inside and the wheels natuarally slip down into the v in the middle as I go around the turn. This time rather than slip down I got a bit of traction and rode up the slope a bit which is when the wheel washed out. Oh well. Hopefully will see the ortho today

    Hurts like a mutherf*****.

On the bright side the ortho surgeon said there's no worry about the tendon damage. He was more concerned that infection might develop, so he wants me to keep the immobilizer on til next week to make sure I don't tear the sutures. Sounds like I should be good to go by the time stitches are out in a couple weeks.

Thx to all for the healing vibes. I can feel them sitting here on my couch. Either that or its the two pills I just popped!
