As stated in my earlier post, I recently sold the Vassago frame on ebay. It is definitely a great bike. I just had to make room because my wife bought me a Jones Spaceframe / ti truss fork :)

The Sinister Ridge is definitely not a xc hardtail. It's meant to be a burly all-mountain hardtail and can accept up to a 160mm fork. It has a relatively slack head angle of about 68 degrees, which is what I was looking for in an all-mountain hardtail. Being as burly as it is, it's actually a decent weight at about 5 lbs.

The Cotic BFe is a steel hardtail made of Reynolds 853. It is also designed for up to a 6 inch fork. It has a 68 degree head angle with a 6" fork. The frame weight is also supposed to be about 5 lbs.

I just placed the order earlier this week. Jeff said it should be ready to ship in a couple of weeks. I'll post pics once I receive it. It'll probably be built with the parts from the Vassago. But, instead of setting it up as a singlespeed, I may try it out as a 1 X 6 initially.

    Beautiful!

It's amazing Scott can make a frame in the US for that cheap and he does some nice work, but a better comparison to the Q-Ball would be the Karate Monkey. Both are made of fairly inexpensive 4130 steel. (IMHO, the Q-Ball still looks like a great deal)

A more fair comparison for the Sir 9 would be one of Scott's actual "Quiring" branded frames which uses higher quality (and priced) tube sets and costs $1,275.

that is what i thought...makes perfect sense and 5+ lbs is what i assumed.

my frame is pretty burly too, certainly for me and it too is not a XC bike...but its only 3.7 lbs which isnt a downside for me anyway....and i was stoked to see how THICK the seattube wall thickness was however

can run up to a 6" fork, though i will be running a bit shy of that with the Pike 426 i picked up. head angle is 68.5 deg with 5" fork

I've only ridden on 2 or 3 in the last decade so I really can't say...but I am still groovin' on my Overdrive big time.

I really love this bike. And the frame is guaranteed for life - well, until you take the decals off and powdercoat it, which I will be doing very soon.

IMO, if your looking for a race bike, and you have the money...

Go for the super sexy Specialized Epic Marathon.
Sexy red, white, and black paint. Super light. Great components.

I thought we were talking about hardtails.

I have several full suspension bikes, and I wouldn't choose a Specialized if I were looking for another :)

I've talked to Jeff several times now. He is definitely very cool and knows a lot about bikes. I've been eyeing a Jones spaceframe for a few years, but finally bit.

How was the Jones you tried set up? Singlespeed, 1x6, Geared?

Orbea's Alma has gold medals associated with it and MBA had that crazy looking exoskeletal hardtail in their magazine last year.
