    Yeti Arc

Not sure if it's THE BEST hardtail, but I will be building up a 2009 Yeti ARC towards the end of the year. The looped stays, the banjo cable routing on the top tube, razor sharp handling and the Yeti mystique. For me, the ARC represents the pinnacle of what an aluminum hardtail should be-- it's a cult bike and I've always wanted one ever since I saw Juliana Furtado on one shredding the competition back in the day. :bang:

It's all relative and subjective. If I had the money I'd go with:

All I know is steel. But outside of that the Orbea Alma intrigues me most. I can't say I've ever been interested in an al, sc, or ti hardtail.

For freeriding and general abuse, Knolly makes a sweet frame! Normal trail riding, because I am going to start building one, I've gotta say On One Scandal 29er!:bang:

Who makes the best? I think I hardly know as all mine have been made in Taiwan but all have been pretty good. They were most I was willing to spend at the time so they were best for me!

Right now I'm rollin' a Zion 737ss 29er. It's a bit of tank, but the geometry is not bad and it was cheap. In the future, Sar_Boats Q-ball though looks tasty. Or maybe a Vulture or a Denis Duty frame.

Surprised no one has brought up the Jeff Jones Space Frame.

    On-One/Lynksey 456 Titanium ???

Bike Radar gave it their only 5-star rating ever and claims that it's the best hardtail they ever tested. Beautiful bike, but pricey.

On the cheap end, there's the original, steel 456.. maybe the best long travel hardtail for the money. It can take forks up to 6". There's also a Summer Season version we've been hearing alot about lately. Both are dirt cheap. I'm building a Summer Season myself.
