SoCal 12 Hours of PBR! That's just what the up-and-back has been dubbed in this thread.

That "big" route sounds do-able, but maybe not just yet...

I would definitely join this ride if I weren't busy with Mother's Day. I'll look forward to the next one going to the peak.

I would have never thought that so many would be interested in a fireroad out and back.

Not everyone has the flexibility to go off the beaten track. Some people like to do group rides. Some people find Harding to be a really hard ride. Some riders have never been up there.

Lots of reasons. To each thier own.

I say almost the same thing about Aliso Creek / Wood Canyon on a weekend when the trails are so crowded you can almost ride on top of all the bike helmets. Some great trails... victims of their own popularity. Been on them ALL so many times I have names for some of the rocks :) But I go on weekdays :) Same thing about Whiting... STT / the Luge... SJT if you want to climb it...

Harding is an easy, approachable way to start exploring the CNF trails. Once you are on top of Santiago, and can look down at Joplin, the Holy Jims, Trabuco - all of which you need to get to Main Divide in order to descend... it gives you more to look forward to.

All I'll say is that I love Harding for the views, and a nice two hour cardio workout that I can do on weekends... often without seeing a single other biker until I have turned around and am 75% of the way back to my car. You can't say THAT about Aliso Creek :)

    It'll be perfect at 6am.

I tried to snap a pic of the peak on my commute to work this morning, but the fog wasn't cooperating. Thought I could give some of you that are on the fence some inspiration! :)

    Great fibbers in history:

"Russian winters aren't that bad." Napoleon, 1812
"Airship travel is the future of transportation." Hindenburg, 1937
"The Edsel will make other car designs obsolete." Henry Ford II, 1959
    "I don't descend very fast." Ridinrox, 2013

    Just sayin... :)

Next week we may have more takers. I will say this - the heat at the trailhead was BRUTAL when we got back. Up at Four Corners it was soooo nice... Those hikers/bikers at the bottom were in for a world of hurt...
