I suffered the heat yesterday, went up Canyon Acres, down Stairsteps up Willow and back to house. Left at 7am and by 9am felt like 100 dedrees out there...did not have fun. So I am thinkin Whitting will be to hot for me. I am doing a beat the heat ride, hooking up with Scott (Stjunkie) and a couple of others for a high altitude ride. Mt. Waterman and Three Points/Mt. Hilyer ride...yummie my favorites.
Dean you are absolutely going to love that ride. Iwas already committed to another ride, otherwise I'd be with you guys. At the Turnbull ride it was 100 by 9 am. Right now at 3:40pm it's 114 degrees here in Fontucky.
gonna be a tasty one tomorrow as well 75* at 7am, 82* at 9am and 87* at 10am http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/USCA1154?begHour=3&begDay=204
Have done Waterman many times and it is one of my favorites, right up there with Burkhart Trail. I have not done Three Points...I'm looking forward to that. Have done Mt. Hilyer many times, it may be too hot down that low for my liking...we will see.
Man was it toasty! Good ride though. But yeah . . . I wont be making it to Cooks. Might end up at Aliso and/or Laguna.
Hey ShinKen, Is the route from Cooks down to Whiting? I 'm not too familiar that area. I've been doing Whiting/Cactus lately and have done Cooks/STT/Luge- which last time I was there was overgrown on some turns YIKES!- Just trying to get an idea of the "ridetime" to see if I can make it. Thanks!
rode down the luge today, not overgrown any longer, appears somebody did some maintenance. and i am also wondering if you are starting at cooks and doing whiting first and then back to stt??:?: :-s
i'll try to make it out dere with you peeple had car problems and couldn't make it, how was the ride? there were some thunderstorms in my area at 9am and i spoke with a friend that lives right by cooks and he said it rained last night.
Perfect weather not too much sun and a little rain all and all it was a good ride. Besides making a small donation to the single track gods not a single thing went wrong. Thanks man I owe you a cerveza or ten:beer:
Family duty called..sorry I could not make it...its been hard to make an organized ride lately, how was the ride?
NP dood!!8) U missed it a great ride!! Only two of us made it. We tough it would be blazzing HOT but some one put a nice cloud right on Top of us on the STT trail so when we started the luge we had rain pouring on us SWEET like! :bang: The whole ride was freaking great!! The dirt was nice and only a few sections had loose spots!! Pure single track sweetness!! Whiting was kicking my butt a little (after Sat's ride ) but when we was done I think my legs finally woke up so the rest felt pretty good!! "FisherRider" did a kick ass job!! He was such a great guy that he left a few tissue donations around the trails out of the kindness of his heart!!#-o Let’s ride again Bub!!:bang: We may ride this again sometime on the week!
