I have no idea, but it was just off the trail and less than 1/2 mile away from wahoo's. I will make it a point to go there again just to watch. Lots of kids doing cool tricks. It like Vans with bikes.

Sorry if this has been posted already. Rode Whiting today and saw that Sleepy Hollow is open. Will be interesting to see how it holds up with future rain. The water goes all the way up to the trail. I'll try to get a picture next time.

The test will be how it handles the rain-- maybe this week?

There are 3 crossings on that short little trail.. the upper one next to a big pond--and its filled with something like 4 dump truck loads of rock. The next one is halfway down and its filled with rocks, too, and could blow out. And the reroute at the bottom (after the merge with Sage Scrub) hasn't been through a big storm, but the old crossing was completely blown out so we moved the trail upstream a bit.

Well I just rode Whiting today. Although I didn't head down Sleepy Hollow I talked with someone who just said it was muddy and held up well. I was impressed when I saw this thing coming up Cactus,

Just playing. It was parked at the top of 4 corners.

Driving home from Maple Springs yesterday I could see that excavator from Santiago Canyon Road. I could also see a lot of that orange fencing that seemed to be on Mustard and the road up to Mark's Bench.
I'd imagine they'll be doing work on Mustard real soon.

Just to clarify Whiting has the same trail closures from before this latest storm but has otherwise reopened.

I asked the Ranger about it, and he said they've already started working on it. It could take a couple weeks.

They've got to build up the roadbed and re-establish a channel for the runoff. (Mustard Road washed away from the junction with Borrego to the lower end of Billy Goat.) Here's a couple shots showing the damage..

Whiting Ranch: Borrego Trail still isn't open, but I want our December's work on Cattle Pond to be in good shape when it does. So I've spent some time lately riding down Mustard (still closed and not fully rebuilt) and working on the Cattle Pond loop.

There was a landslide that nearly took out the trail in one spot, so I moved the trail over a few feet. Then there was a big hole in the g-out drop, so I repaired that, too. I also put in a drainage cut up-trail to protect the g-out, and added a jumpable waterbar. I've also been cleaning up our S-turns and berms, especially where a mudslide buried the trail during the December rains.

I've done some test rides, and it's pretty fun. Hopefully we'll all be able to ride in there soon.

I was thinking about may be hitting the Luge and Whiting, tomorrow. (depends on how lazy I get!!)
I haven't done this in a long time. What current routes are available and where should I park.

The Borrego entrance is still closed, as is that side of the park.

The back side of the park is still open.... You can park in the lot off of Glen Ranch across from Oakley.

I guess my question should be more specific. I am looking for an actual route through Whiting. Like "Coyote Brush road to Serrano cow trail to......"
I know the Santiago Truck trail to Luge part.

I usually start at wahoo's, then ride up raptor-coyote-whiting-cactus-vulture-sage scrub-sleepy hollow-cow trail-live oak which meets back at raptor

Or more specifically, "How do I get from Whiting to STT?", perhaps?

Did Whiting last night. I enter from Tessera Ave. in Foothill Ranch. My best description would be 'spongy'. There are some big puddles out there. Don't have any idea when Borrego is going to open up.

To get to STT you need to get to four corners to get to four corners you have several options. I personally would take the entrance across from Wahoos to Dreaded to four corners and then go over to STT. If you don't want Dreaded then you should take Whiting. I don't recommend Cactus since it is against the flow.
