Whiteface 5 K DH registration is open

Hello west coast friends,
I know some of you have been racing the Pro GRT and some have already registered for our BIG race. The Whiteface 5 K DH is on 9-11/12. So here is the thread I started on a few forums. Didn't want to leave you guys out.

Whiteface 5 K DH registration is open
5 K DH information and online registration can be found on our site by clicking HERE and going to the 5 K DH Menu.


5 K DH itinerary: (14.5 hours of open practice!)
Friday: 9:00 am till 3:30 pm/Open Practice

Saturday: 8:00 am till 2:15. Registration open
Saturday 9:00 am till 3:00 pm: Open practice
Saturday 3:30 pm: Pro seeding run

Sunday: 8:00 am till 10:00 am Registration opens
Sunday: 12 noon downhill race starts
Sunday: 3:00 pm Chainless downhill on the same course
Sunday: 4:00 pm awards ceremony

Pro cash payout:
A $5,000.00 pro cash purse will be awarded as follows for pro racers in the downhill competition.
Pro Men’s 1st place $1,500.00 / Pro Women’s 1st place $1,250.00
Pro Men’s 2nd place $750.00 / Pro Women’s 2nd place $650.00
Pro Men’s 3rd place $500.00 / Pro Women’s 3rd place $350.00
The top 3 places in all amateur categories for the downhill will win prizes from our sponsors.

Race course map. Besides the very top speed section this is a new course that's never been raced on:


Our trail crew headed by Peter Mills has been working on this course all season. Adding tons of flow, berms and drainage. This new race track will have more single-track than previous 5 K DH races and a sweet stream crossing to boot. As usual we will also host a chainless downhill race immediately following the main dh event on the same course for only $10.00 extra.

There will also be a ECCC collegiate race the same weekend. No ECCC races will interfere with the USAC Pro GRT/Gravity East dh race.

And if you do end up going to this event don't miss some of the best trout meals on the East Coast at the Hungry Trout Restaurant, about a 1 mile north of ski resort. Travelled all around the world and ate in too many different places but this is one of the best restaurants around! Whiteface is also one of the best MTB parks around! Miss them both very dearly since I moved out to Socal . Iin fact thats about the only thing I miss from the East Coast, Lake Placid, Whiteface and the Hungry Trout!

I just copied your message and sent it to Jerry the owner of the Hungry Trout. Too often business owners just hear from he customers that aren't happy. Jerry works very hard and thought he'd appreciate this all the way from Socal.

 

He deserves it! As do all of the folks on Whiteface Mtn! Hope to be able to make it back to Lake Placid in a couple of years for a summer vacation!
