I've seen the elevation profile. But, do you happen to have a GPS track of the trail? I'd like to drop it into a map program and get the grade profile if I could.

Two trails start behind Costco: Trail 305, excellent buff singletract and Trail 62 nasty rocky loose climb turns into quad trail before you get to Spruce Mountain. There is also some jumps, doubles and tables in the bushes behind Costco.

Dean, I've got the entire week before the Whiskey off, when are you planing on getting there? Any word on the house you mentioned before? I'm still in. I need to get signed up soon, but I'd like to see what the plans are like, and if there may be a group interested on sharing that rental you found.

Oh, and here's the post from the actual Whiskey 50 event..... http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/ride-reports/34703-more-preskitt-rocks-rollin-50-miles.html

I am self-employed so I can take off whenever.

I needed a solid 6-8 guaranties to get a house that did not happen. I talked to the owner and she lives in San Diego very easy to work with. The house sleep (9-14) people and is $1200 a week. It is off Cooper Basin Road up in the forest so the race goes nearby. I would like to get 6 people to give a $200 deposit and I will call her again, as of today the house is still open that week.

I would like to do day trips to Williams, Flagstaff and Mingus.

Hmmmm...Now this could be fun :-k Linda's nephew lives in Prescott and always invites us to visit. We haven't taken him up on it yet since Linda doesn't ride and I'd be on my own to navigate the trails, etc. This way I could ride with STR folks and Linda can get in some quality time with her family. Jackpot!

I'm probably going to be heading out there wednesday and staying through sunday. I'm not sure what maxwell and some other riders had in mind, but that place looks awesome and I would be willing to commit.

If you are interested, please PM dstepper! This place looks great!

I'm up for whatever days off everyone else can do.

What, no day trip to Sedona. You know you want to checkout the new H****E trail, even if we just do an out and back to the saddle.

Late night BUMP back to the front page! :bang:
    So, who's going?

Some of us got in on the house. Gonna be a fun freak'n week of riding for sure!

    Now the question is......

I did the 50 miler last year on my On-One Summer Season it just over 6 hours. Should I do it on the Stinky Air this year, and see if I can beat my time? [IMG]

    Prescott Whiskey Ride

Is anyone camping for the whiskey in prescott in april? I'm signed up and planning on rolling into town on Thursday, hitting some trails Thu/Fri and then doing the ride on Sat. I'm thinking some tent campgrounds outside of town would be a good bet as the ride doesn't start too early on Sat morning. If anyone has camped there before I'd appreciate your thoughts on what you thought about the campgrounds and any nearby trails, etc. Thanks

White Spar Campground is the closest campground to town and has the most excellent Trail 396 leaving it and heading up to Gold Lake and can connect to Spruce Mountain. This week it was still snowing in Prescott so it may be a Whiskey with more than a few water crossings. White Spar should be open by race weekend as many racers use that campground

There is dispersed (free) camping in most all the the Prescott National Forest some of is along the route of the race (Cooper Basin and Thumb Butte areas).

Also year round camping at Granite Basin with a ton of trails leaving the campground.

I will be out there with StJunkie, Maxwell, Lovin, Burner and DMan we rented a house for the week.

Here is a simple map of some of the Prescott trails where the 396 is on the map is White Spar Campground and there is a local ride that leaves from there every Thursday night during the spring and summer. Good place to get the local hookup. Hope to see ya out there.

It is also a charity for the local food bank and in the past you could show up Friday night for racer orientation and get a spot. I bet you could jump on board the morning of, it is a kicked back fun race. MTBers pretty much take over the downtown area Saturday. They block the streets off, live music and a plenty of bars along Whiskey Row...good times to be had.

I don't race but I like riding this event.
