As of 3PM this afternoon, I'm registered to race my first ultra endurance race. Anyone else going to make the trek to Prescott, AZ in April?

    http://www.epicrides.com/wor/wor.htm

Nothing like 52 miles and 7200 ft of climbing....I found an RR from last year and it looks like the race follows roughly the same course.

Now, I need to find a campground close to the start and can take a 32' RV. Any suggestions?

Yes going. Not to race but to enjoy family and friends. Will probable do the 15 or 25 proof.

Last year put it together with a week of AZ riding including White Mountains, Sedona, Williams and Flagstaff...hoping for a long trip this year also.

Get there Thursday for the locals evening ride up Trail 396 (White Spar Campground to Gold Lake) then hanging out with us at the Prescott Brewery.

We're planning to make a week out of it as well. Thurs-Sun in Prescott and then take a few extra days at the Grand Canyon and other tourist type place with my wife and boys.

I don't know if we will make it this year. Not much vacation time left. I would like to hit Perscott in May or June though.

I'm planning on being there to ride. Work situation will need to improve before I register, though.

That ride last year was such a blast. Billy on his fixie, the gal on the Townie, beautiful sunset, and finishing in complete darkness.... so much fun!

I saw a listing for this a few weeks ago and thought it looked interesting. I've never ridden in that area: What's the course like? How does it compare to something like the CC, since the amount of distance & climbing are similar?

I had it on my calendar and I really wanted to do this, but I have too much going that month already. :( My parents are in Surprise, Az so I'm hoping to get out to Prescott to ride at some point. Maybe next year I can plan better and make this race.

Bob, nothing against the CC but it is just way more fun! If you have the opportunity to go, GO. Like Randy said, there is more singletrack, less fireroad (the 50 has more fireroad, however). But even the fireroad climbs are fun and pretty.

Sign up for 25. It's challenging, but not gruelling. Lots of rocky, technical, ST climbing and some really fun descents including one that's similar to Motorway. It took Pat and me about 5 hours to do the 25 going at a comfortable pace.

The scenery is gorgeous, the people are awesome, and you shouldn't miss it.

I agree 100%!!! The ride in of itself was a blast. Prescott has some great trails in general with lots of different terrain. Oh, let's not forget about the Prescott Brewery. Good food and great beer.

I loved that we found a trail that started behind Costco. I don't remember the name of it but it was FUN!!!

lol. Not F.U.N. but fun. It was fast with some opportunities to get some good air. Not overly technical but very flowy and fast. Willie may chime in on this because she really liked this one as well.

Dean probably knows the name of the Costco trail. Most of the trail names are numbers. The trail didn't have any sustained climbing; just very rolly, fast, swoopy turns, and sticky dirt. It was very foresty and not what most people's idea of Arizona would be.

There are maps of the town that show exactly where the trails are and their difficulty levels. Even if you didn't have anyone to show you around you could easily get by with just that map.
