Probably not but I ride Prescott often. The 25 mile loop is not bad, they add a fireroad decent to Scull Valley and climb back Prescott to make the 50 miler. There are miles and miles of great single track in Prescott and many wonder why that 25 miles of fireroad.

Yes unless you just want the miles. There is some good singletrack on the Whiskey Route and the town shuts down and welcomes the race. Prescott is worth visiting...in fact I will be there tomorrow.

I haven't done the 25, only the 50, but it seemed as if the people who showed up for the 50, showed up to race. The people who showed up for the 25, showed up for a fun ride.

If you want to visit to ride the trails, you could choose another weekend when room rates aren't spiked up, but being there on the weekend of the whiskey off-road is something magical.

I plan to do the Fifty... although it is just fire-road, it is still beautiful country and the atmosphere, as others have mentioned, is second to none.

I have another event that day, otherwise would definitely be heading out. As others have said, the town really caters to the event and it's an awesome atmosphere.

Highly recommend doing the "Watering Hole Challenge" after the bike race... check out many of the fine establishments in Prescott and enjoy some food/drink.

The 50 comes with bragging rights. The 25 does not. At least, that's the way it seemed when I did it a few years ago.

I gotta agree with Dean -- certainly they could put together a better 25 mile adjunct than a 12.5 mile OAB down into Skull Valley. That was a really arduous and boring addition to what was otherwise some really great riding out there.

I'm going to try to do the 25 (work schedule pending). It includes the best parts of the route. I did it in 2009 and 2010 and had a blast.

Someone should get one of the group camping sights at Granite or Lynz Lake and make it a STR camp-out weekend. I know of lots of free camping in the forest but that is hard to set up for a large group.

I'm planning on the 50 again. It will be my third time. I love the way this event is supported by the City. My wife does not ride MTB, but she is looking forward to going back again to support me.
