I am thinking of getting my first ever DH bike or building one up. Problem is, what to buy?
I have been thinking about a Cove STD or an Intense SoCom.
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
    What do you guys ride?
    Thanks

The best bang for the buck is complete Giant Glory DH. The stock components are hard to beat and the price is amazing. The last I checked the Glory's ratings were a perfect 5 out of 5 with 35 reviewers. That's pretty impressive considering how much people bitch on MTBR.

If money is not an issue, I would definitely go for the Cove Shocker. Top notch frame all around.

gotta agree with this. if you're buying complete, there's no better build than the giant for the money. hell, you could probably buy that complete and sell off the frame and have a sweet setup.

if you're going from the ground up, I would PERSONALLY try and find a single pivot DHR (round tubing), but naturally, frame choice is all about the buyer. I pedaled a socom around the path parking lot once, but It didn't show me very much.

I say try every frame within your budget that you can, and decide from there. there's tons of people with socoms in socal, as well as M6's. not so many turners, practically no coves, and a fair amount of glories. ask around, I'm sure there would be a few people around here that would be willing to let you do a run on their bike to test it out.

    all depends on your budget.

I would take a Socom over a Cove any day.

The M6 and Glory DH are in abundance around here. All for a good reason. :bang:

As mentioned the 303DH is a sick bike. But VERY expensive, even more so than an M6. Don't buy a Demo 8- because Sam Hill is on one now.

There are lots of choices. I personally like the M6 and 303DH the most. But other great bikes to look into would be the Turner DHR (DW link), Banshee Legend MK1 <-- Both bikes are not out yet.

You can try out my Socom anytime...I will be @ Kenter this Saturday, if you are interested.

The Glory DH (like everyone else said) is a great bike. Framekiller and I first saw one up at Northstar for 3K. Very good bike. If you go the complete route.

Try out a few peoples frames and demo them. There are a lot of choices.

All the bikes listed above are great bikes and good choices. My next DH bike is going to be a Ventana El Cuervo--top notch, and not too common!

Definitely all depends on the budget.

I'm a bit biased but how about a new Mongoose Boot'r. The price is extremely resonable and all around it's hard to beat.

I have been looking at the Jedi too. They are all sold out (other than small) until March of next year. Only heard good things about that bike.
