    A strength training store?

    Pilates store?

    Highly recommended from a source...

Le Targhey stocks a cheapo foam roller. I know because it was my first foam roller a few months ago and it already needs replacing.

I went to Sports Chalet and they were way too expensive for the technology, materials and design/engineering work I felt I was getting in return (I don't believe in paying for hype or packaging).

Instead I went to Home Depot and bought a $2 cut off of PVC pipe, wrapped it in an old towel and sealed with tape. Works for me!

You mean 20 bucks for a simple length of foam is too much?! ;)

    Nice!

    Nice!

You now need to come up with a 2-buck substitute for the piece of styrofoam on top of our heads!

No, I mean $30 bucks is too much for a bit of round foam!

I've seen them at Big 5. If you find the pressure from the foam roller to be too much, try "The Stick." I prefer it to the foam roller.

Ooooh...the roller hurts SOOO good, though! ;)

The Stick is okay but I agree with you that the roller is better.

Go to Sam's, Costco or other grocery store and purchase the largest can of coffee that they have. You may want to reinforce the ends with duct tape so you don't have an accident but this works. It is very painful.

Not long enough to stretch out your back, etc. I guess for one leg only it would work. I roll both quads at once.

Yes, the Coffee can is limited to IT band applications and that outer edge of quads, the size isn't right for other parts. For the back just use a tennis ball against the wall, better pressure than the roller.

I notice the product from Perform Better is made from 5" PVC pipe. That seems like a cheap way to go about it. Some foam on the outside would be nice though.

That's what the towel is for. I took duct tape and taped one edge to the pipe, rolled the towel around it tightly, then taped the other edge down. Washable too! For more cushioning you could use an extra towel or some packing foam, or neoprene.

Got it. I totally missed the PVC pipe comment in your original post. I think that's what I'm going to do.

How long is your pipe? (now that just sounds dirty doesn't it?)

    Much thanks!
