Whats up with the Gabralino Trail, is it open?

Alabama Fried Chicken just doesn't quite conjure up the same visual does it?

 

ACH = Angeles Crest Hwy - Wrightwood to la Canada
AFH = Angeles Forest Hwy, ACH to the desert floor.... where strawberry peak was....

 

Lower Merrill is open. The Sam Merrill trail is closed between Echo Mountain and Inspiration Point.

 

You are right. Its the contencious "Middle Merrill" that I was refering to...

 

You notice I carefully avoided "middle"

 

Well KFC is fried. So not really.

A more than 40-mile stretch of Angeles Crest Highway will remain closed to the public until late March, Caltrans officials said Wednesday.

 

That's too bad. To be closed so long will probably mean the end for Newcombs Ranch.

The Gabrieleno trail is off of Angeles Crest Hwy. Sure you can use AFH to get to Angeles Crest Hwy to get to the Gabrieleno trail, but AFH is not a road most of us use when going to the Gabrieleno trail.

 

I road up Monrovia Canyon today. The stream was flowing hard.

I know where the Gabrielino trails is. It's in my backyard and I ride it frequently. I was giving the additional road info for road openings/closures at the time.

While a rare occurrence, depending on what's going on with slides and road conditions between La Canada and the AFH turnoff, the AFH is the only open route to the rest of the ACH.

The question mark was due to the apparent confusion of the other poster who replied questioning abbreviation of AFC.

 

Big sections of the asphalt highway collapsed. I'd be suprized if they get it fixed that soon.
