So, the swellbow is feeling better today finally- I'm giving it 72 hours to heal, which means I should be riding Aliso this afternoon around 4PM... I need to find some sort of brace thingy to hold my arm at this 90 degree angle after I chew the cast off. Doc says I will be more prone to another dislocation after the first time. I am gonna have to learn how to pop it back in too- Here are some updated photos, as you can clearly see this is an arm now, not a misplaced leg. Also got some pictures of what women really want during times like these- cute boys to clean and cook and take me calls....

Clearly its an arm, not a leg!

Glad to hear you're on the mend, grasshopper!

I know how much that was hurting on the ride over to the hospital. I was tying to hurry yet miss all the bumps in the road. Just glad nothing was broken.

    See ya on the trail....

Ouch! That's a nice looking bruise you got there. You and Vickie can both can be poster childs for the fight against domestic abuse! Take care of that thing and brace it well.

I'm hoping the boys in the pictures above are your sons and not fallen preys to another OC cougar attack. ;)

Thanks Duan! I nearly fell over when my son Mike offered to come over with his awesome girlfriend to cook and clean- I must have done something right along the way. And Chris- THENIGHTRUNNER- has not let me do anything except lounge around- but has strictly forbidden me from riding in my high-heeled boots ever again!
Gregg you did an awesome job driving me to the ER- I don't remember much - thank God the shock had set in nicely- I still don't have any idea how I walked down Cholla in those boots and all the way to Milf Park with a dislocated elbow- Fred and Kristine must have carried me! And I am so glad its not broken, I think dislocations hurt more initially, but maybe heal faster? There is also something in my left shin- I remember pulling out a cactus spine in the ER, but there is something still in there and swelling a lot. Im off to the chiro now, to have some more comprehensive x-rays taken and see about some contraption to put on my arm for future rides....

Brenda I can teach you how to tape your arm to hold it at the correct angle, its quite easy actually. Yes once you dislocate a joint its more prone to happen again, however with some strengthening you can help limit it. As for a brace most braces that will limit range of motion on an elbow are quite bulky, I mean robo arm bulky.

Looking much better, glad you could take a load off it. With my arm injuries I did not give them much time to atrophy but joints are all soft tissue. Dr. Disco would prescribe copious amounts of pool laps and hot tub time to allow things to knit with minimal impact as the bike may aggravate things. But since I too rarely take more than three days off a bike try letting out some (3-5psi) air from the fork and/or tire for the next two weeks and just take it easy, you have already earned our respect by walking out in heels:clap:.

    Get well soon.

    Photo update

The colors are looking good! Purple has always been a good color with my eyes... I can take the cast off to put ice on my arm, it really helps with the pain and swelling...Can use my fingers on my left hand to type now to. I still have to carry it around using the sling , or my right arm- the thought of full extension shivers me timbers! Last night I got a special treat , which will further help the healing... a trip to the Early's, complete with special brews, chips and salsa- and a sushi extravaganza - it just doesn't get any better than that!

Sorry to hear there was more wrong than the Dr.s originally thought.

So, for the record Ms. Gilbert, you walked halfway down Cholla and then back up to the top of Canyon View Park with a dislocated elbow AND and broken arm!? Next time I'm calling the paramedics. Not for you. For me. If I had known, I would've been the one in shock!!

How can someone so tough be so sweet at the same time?!

    [-o-] coming your way.
