    Hello,

I recently started racing (12 hr) and although my completely foolish nutrition worked out by sheer luck...

Was wondering if there are other formulas or mixes that people would recommend?

Currently I do 1/4 scoop of Accelerade + 3/4 scoop of Gatorade per liter of water. (Mostly cause the Accelerade tastes like absolute crap.)

Ha. Thanks guys but I was thinking of something with more nutritional value...

    Heed from Hammer Nutrition?
    Endurox?
There are so many out there that I'm not sure where to start.

My GF and I use Cytomax and she uses GU gels (I personally dont "believe" in Gels...) and we finish our rides/runs with Muscle Milk

Hammer Perpetuem works for me on long rides....for me it's basiclly liquid food. That in the bottle and watered down Gatorade in the Camelback...works great!...imho. If not...try Guinness in the bottle and water in the camelback.;)

Hammer Heed for shorter rides, Perpetuem for longer rides. I like to mix the 2 depending on length of ride and conditions.

What do you guys think of Hammer products versus something like Cytomax? (I think I used to use that when running and it worked pretty well)

If you had to choose one drink mix for a 12 hr race (solo) would you use Heed or Perpetuem?

Also those suggestions are pretty good. When you do decide on which one to use, get the smallest size possible and try it on a long ride. Reason I say this is, I liked the flavor of Cytomax lemon/lime. But after drinking that stuff for 6+ hours(switched back and forth with water), the acidicness of the flavoring makes you want to puke. Some people have zero effect, others like myself cant take it for more than a few hours. So on the longer rides I need to go with something almost bland and really watered down. Then once you can "stomach" it for a long ride, buy it in bulk.

  12. Cytomax, cyto carb II, and monster maize...all good stuff

Hmm. Sounds like I should buy a pack each of Cytomax, Heed, and Perpetuem to try out...

Any particular flavors I should stay away from? Are any of these particularly nasty tasting, too thick, or leaves a bad after-taste?

Guess I'm just wary after the Accelerade. Ugh.

I prefer PowerBar endurance or cytomax... but it is pretty much anything you can stomach down during a ride that will put the nutrients back...
