For those of you who climb.....anyone need an old school Tahquitz/Suicide guidebook? I bought a case of these from a book store that was going out of business and I certainly don't need all of them. They're pretty cool.....lots of old route info and history. The info is still very good/relevant for the older routes....just no super-detailed topos like you find in the newer books.

Anywho, yours if you want them. I have 5 or 6.

Which guide is it, donkey? Before the first Gaines/Vogel? Sounds very cool if so. If I can snake one off ya I'd be grateful. TIA. Can grab it at your work when I pick up the wife's steed? (In two weeks.) TIA again!

I can't remember the year on the Gaines/Vogel guide....but this one was put out by the American Alpine Club and printed in 1979.

I'll bring one in for you tomorrow and put it with the bike. Glad you can use it!

^ It's something I've been interested in trying out for a while now. CrossFit gyms are all over the place now.

snowboarding, canyoneering (seen 127 hours?), hiking, scuba diving, skin diving. and while it's not athletic, but still has the rush, I'll throw in flying helicopters (not the RC ones, the real deal)

if it's fun, I'm game - except for bungie jumping or sky diving, those I leave to my wife to do without me actually

I started as a roadie in high school (I'm 40 now) and never made it passed CAT V...then martial arts caught my attention and I have been doing traditional (not MMA) martial arts such as Shorin-Ryu Karate, Kenpo, Aikijujutsu ever since for the passed 20+ years....sometime a few years ago, I re-discovered my love for pedaling a bike and took up mountain biking instead of road (mostly because i didn't want to shave my legs anymore)...I get the same sense of "inner peace" riding alone on a trail as I do when doing solitary martial arts practice. Both have a calming effect on my frazzled nerves and I find the two activities very complimentary....other than that, I've never been good at mainstream type sports (basketball, football, etc...) The individual stuff suits my personality much better.

Just want to gradually improve my current fitness level to enjoy life with friends and family for a long time.
If it helps me break a sweat in a positive way, then it is good enough for me. Nothing too fancy.
So here are some of the things I do:
    - MTB (probably the best weight management, cholesterol/blood glucose reducing activity that I do)
    - Golf (helps flexibility, core strength, mental acuity, and also a good way to spend time with old friends over beer)
    - Table Tennis (helps hand/eye coordination, agility, and reflexes)
    - Perfect Push-Up V2 (do slow 40 to 60 reps a day to help firm up the upper body and surprisingly, the abs)

I try not to let any one activity consume me, although MTB has been high on the list as of late.

Skateboarding from mid 80s-mid 90s (bad knees as a teenager so I quit)
Snowboarding - 1990-2001 (don't do it anymore because It's too expensive and I can't go as big as I used to)
Surfing - 1991-1999 (quit because I got sick of the egos out in the water)
Skimboarding - 1988-2001 Competed seriously as an amatur from 1993-2001. Placed 3rd in the 2000 world champs and 4th in the 2001 world champs. Took a ten year hiatus and now getting back into it. Started on a wood board then a victoria polyvac, then carbon Victoria, and now I have a new carbon Exile I purchased from my buddy who owns the company.

Mountian Biking - 2003-present. Had to sell my last two bikes due to being unemployed and needing rent money. I haven't ridden in about 8 months but a new bike is in the works now that I have a jobby job again. I suck at riding but I love the sport and the culture.
