I am not really sure what happened. It was a very weird crash. I was coming down the long downhill section right before the lake park at the Fully Loop I came around the corner at the top and started down the section was coming up on another rider and started to brake so I didn't run up the back of them. Next thing I remember was feeling the handlebars against my stomach and a strange sound. I realized that sound was my helmet rubbing against the front tire. That is when I realized it was not going to end well  At that point the handlebars hit the fence and the tire crossed up and threw me from the bike. This whole thing took about 3 seconds but if felt like forever. I landed on my head. Thank god I was wearing the helmet. The strap scraped my neck really good. Rolled onto my shoulder got a good scrape there too then rolled and landed on my left side I think I took a rock to the thigh I have a golf ball sized knot on it. But other than the scrapes and soreness I am ok. As for the pictures the helmet rash the trail rash Thanks to Donnie Duke Lori and the rest for helping me put myself and bike back together after the crash. Thank you Elvia for riding back to the parking lot with me and making sure I was ok.
Thats IT! I'll never ride that death trap known as the fully loop! You all are courting death on that hell track you call a mountainbike ride! Nice safe trails like upper and middle Merill are better for the cycling public.
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOD the fully loop takes out more riders than the DH course at funtucky... Hope you heal up in a flash!!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad you're okay, Rudy! And I'm glad that you were riding with good peeps! Isn't it weird how time either goes really slow, really fast, or both somehow, when we crash? Just today, I found myself doing an unintentional front wheelie. That was scary for a minute. Is your helmet the kind that needs to be replaced after a crash?
I tore up the helmet pretty go and broke the adjustment straps so yeah I am now in the market for a new brain bucket. Does anyone know of one with a soft strap:lol:
Glad to hear that you are okay! What helmet were you wearing at the time? I'm in the market for a new one and don't want to end up with a sweet neck scrub like yours!!
It was a Bell Influx helmet I think I paid around $50 for it I had a woven nylon straps that caused all the damage but much better than dragging the back of my head across the ground.
Call up Bell, if the straps broke they might want to take a look at it. Not saying they'll give you another, but maybe they'll pay postage at least, discount on new helmet or something. You'll be doing your part to further helmet research...
Man that is tough. I am glad that you didn't do anything like that while riding over by Little Moab in Sycamore (IE) on Saturday. Sorry but I wouldn't be able to carry you out. Good to hear that you are okay though.
I was laughing about that earlier today I did a technical trail I had never been on before on Sat with no problem. Sunday I crash on my favorite part of a trail I have been down a hundred times before.
sounds like you grabbed the fence when you were breaking, or lost grip on a stutter bump and endo'd it
