I did some solo riding this weekend, and rode with my buddy IPOD.

I found that tenacious D, ZZtop and the Chilli peppers made the best climbing music!

what do you rock when rockin solo?

I like just about everything when I'm not riding, but for some reason almost my whole "Ride" playlist is rap/hip hop. I have some stuff from the ROAM soundtrack threown in for good measure. I also have a definite vibe in mind in the order of the songs. I have some stuff that gets me in the mood in the beginning and some more flowy stuff after that, then slightly more up-tempo then more mellow towards the end.

No music I like the sounds my bike makes, especially when I ride my singlespeed and the only thing I hear is the nobbies hitting the dirt.

This is my normal playlist, I don't use a special one just for riding. If I did, it would be only the heavier stuff.

Long sustained climbs usually are treated to a playlist of instru-metal a la pelican, tides, mouth of the architect, etc. Shorter climbs and more rolling terrain often sees the f**cking champs, hematovore, or a variety of other instrumental bands. Often I'll put on some good metal (amon amarth, behemoth, maybe black dahlia murder) if I'm riding hungover and trying to wake up. And sometimes I like singing along to hip hop while I ride.

Most of the time I can decide though, and I leave the 'pod on shuffle. that's when I remember to bring it.
