Pike air if you want to lean to that side of the riding spectrum or Revelation if you want something lighter.
go for anything with a 20mm axle, coil from Marocchi, Fox, or sram owned RockShox '05-present at least 5" travel
Rs Pike. For the price you can't get a better fork,IMO,had mine on my 5spot for about 6 months and still loving it...
I put a Marzocchi ZI Light ETA on my 5-Spot. The first one leaked oil and needed to be replaced...I have not put enough time on either to break them in. So far I can tell you that it is better fork than either my the Fox Vanilla 125 or the Maverick DUC I had on there previously. Axle to crown on the Z1 light is a little long on a 5-Spot but is cancelled out by the ETA when climbing. With full travel coming out of a whoop-de-do uphill can make for a very light front tire , with the posiblity of washing out the front tire. So I need to attention to weighing the front tire. I have been running the fork in 6 inch mode, you can crank it down to 5 inches that the frame is designed for. I am thinking that some of those fork suggestions above are jokes or people only want to go downhill on their bikes. My vote Z1 Light.
I second the Rock Shox Judy. I've seen what you call riding and those curbs you huck off don't require much more then a Judy. Nice to see ya here, Kev. What took so long? Would you please send Mac over for we can have a good ol reunion? Senor Bottoms on a 5 spot??? I think not!
Now that Dusty Buttocks has gotten bored I can answer this question seriously. The Pike is THE fork for the 5 Spot in my opinion. I had a 130-150mm AM1 on my Spot before and the fork just felt too tall in the full 6" travel mode. Cranked down to around 130-140mm it was better but the front end still wandered on steep climbs. It was a very plush fork, but using the ETA when climbing technical stuff was a joke because the fork just isn't compliant. I went for a Pike air u-turn despite being leary about using an air sprung fork. I'm very glad I went with the air. It weighed in a 4.76lbs with the Maxle and uncut steerer tube. My old AM1 was 5lbs w/o quick release. The first trail I took the Spot on with the new Pike was 5 Oaks. I had air pressures set at 110psi in both + and - chambers. The fork really blew me away, it is ultra plush for an air fork. No it doesn't quite have the buttery feel of a coil sprung Zoke on the small stuff but at high speed it feels excellent, just as good if not better than my old AM1. The 20mm axle really shows itself going down trails like Rock-it, Lynx, 5 Oaks, Rattlesnake...etc, the front end goes where you point it with no flex. Climbing is much easier with this fork on steep stuff. I just crank the travel down to 110mm and the front end never wanders on me at all and it is still active and plush which is great for technical climbs. The height of this fork seems like a perfect match for the 5 Spot both when climbing and descending. I haven't even touched the air pressures yet but I may drop the pressure just a hair as I'm not getting quite full travel out of it. I'd say overall this fork might be a better choice than a Rock Shox Judy
