09 is going to be crazy.

i've been working on the calendar for our team and there are races practically every weekend- and i havent added in the cal state series rim nordics or other smaller, single xc events.

i'd really like to see race promoters be a bit more proactive in publishing their events so that we could plan better for them (training, time off work).

this year i plan on doing a bit more traveling to some races. i'd like to got to colorado for the firecracker 50, national 24hr solos, lumberjack 100, and possibly la garda fest in italy (but that means i miss a ton of other races).

oh - check out ridesb.com - they have a killer list of summer events lined up!
    a spring 24hr race!!!

Fontana / Southridge starts early in the year and is a great intro:

    http://www.southridgeusa.com/

The official state series is run by Team Big Bear and has 8 races throughout the LA area. They have not posted their 2009 calendar yet, but it will be at:

    www.teambigbear.com

You can check out the 2008 races, results, etc there.

Finally, my personal favorite is Rim Nordic racing up at Running Springs. Sweatest singletrack and course in So cal and super well organized. Again, they don;t have their 2009 dates out yet, but you can find details at:

    http://www.rimnordic.com/bike.php

Seems also that the USA Cup races (which replace NORBA) are scheduled (at least according to Geoladders). www.geoladders.com

03/20/09 Fri US Cup #1 Fontana, CA
04/05/09 Sun US Cup #2 / NOVA, Phoenix AZ
04/16/09 Thu US Cup #3 / Sea Otter Classic, Monterey CA
04/25/09 Sat US Cup #4, Los Olivos, Calif.
05/23/09 Sat US Cup #5, Angel Fire, NM
06/27/09 Sat US Cup #6, Windham, NY
08/08/09 Sat US Cup #7, Mt. Snow, VT

I'm still up in the air about a few of these....but soo far I'm thinking it'll look like this:

February: http://www.pisgahproductions.com/mosthorriblethingever.html This one is contingent on me finding a good partner who's truly interested in that type of non-sense.
March: VQ.....but I'm losing interest fast and may sell my entry or "run/hike" the Counting Coup instead.
April: Likely Julian Death March(fun race, did it a few years back) and the Cohutta 100 in Chattanooga, TN.
May: Kokopelli Trail Race...if it happens this year.
June: Kaibab 200 (the course is getting longer/harder this year). Possibly the Cascade Creampuff if the course is different from 2007
July: Colorado Trail Race...unless I bail out again...in which case I'll do the Breck 100 again.
    August: Leadville 100
September: Shenandoah 100 or the Vapor Trail.....definitely need to make one of those happen this year.

Interspersed with all of that is my desire to do 7-8 day trip on foot on the John Muir Trail. I don't know how I'm going to fit all that in...but I'm going to try!

JMT Nice! I got in about 80 miles in 5 days; Valley to Edison Lake. First day was Valley to Tuolume. My guess is you can make it much further than that and could possible finish the entire thing in 8. I would love to bang that thing out in 8 days just don't have the time any more.

Unfourtanatly it looks like I won't get to race anything this winter! Work schedule allowed it last year but this year is looking a bit rough. I think I might be able to work out one Southridge weekend but beyond that nothin!!!!!! It's just plain wrong. #-o

Anyway (I hope (I don't know dates or anything, etc.)) my 2009 season will look a little something like this:

    Boulevard RR (cat 5)
Julian Death March (My friend and I have talked about doing 2 laps)
A short track at the Fontana NMBS stop (always wanted to try one)
Big Blue Off road triathlon (big maybe on that one)
    Xterra West regionals
    Snow Valley xterra
Xterra Mountain regionals (would like to go)
Xterra Nationals (Would really really really like to go, I didn't qualify last year)
A few southridge/rim nordic/racers and chasers on the side
A few asics dirt dogs xc series in the fall
all the San Diego Triathlon club monthly races I can handle!!
