There's only a little over six weeks to go before 2009! How time has ridden by...

2009 will be the first year that I plan to put a mini season together. I have been preparing (transitionary/prep period) for the last few months, doing cross training in swimming/running/random mtb rides/road rides to get some conditioning in before I start training next week for '09. My goals are to challenge myself and see what level of fitness I can achieve, experience new courses and terrain, learn more about training and equipment, and most of all, to have fun riding.

Since I am new to this, I don't know of many other CA and neighboring state races. If you could, when you post your list please state why you chose the race and or what you like about it. I have lots of gaps in my schedule so I'd like to pick up a couple extra rides. :)

Here's my 2009 list (all endurance right now):

    Feb 26: Death valley double
Scenic Road ride in Death Valley. Might cancel b/c it is close to the VQ)

    March 3: VQ
The only mountain bike race I've ever done is the VQ in 07. It was extremely challenging and rewarding. This year I'm planning on doing it SS.

Apr (date not set): Julian Death March
Never did this but it sounds like a good endurance ride. 80 miler in Julian consisting of 3 different loops. The name is awesome too.

June (date not set): Cascade Cream Puff, Oakridge, OR
You get to ride alpine trail not once, but twice. What could be better?

CC, 12 hour solo, and sport class for the SRC races.

The fact i'm even trying those has me pretty damn stoked seeing how i've been riding just over a year now.

Unfortunately both of those first two fall on the same dates as SRC races. booo.

Every single DH race I can afford to go to. I want to get as far into sport class as I can, and with any luck/a crapload of work make it to expert.

Also going to be doing some 4X when it comes up.

XC is a bit meh to me these days :?:

I'm going to try and get as many XC races and Crits in as possible before I deploy in May. Then in Oct. when I get back from Sea, finish up with some more XC and maybe a Crit or two.

I'm torn between motorcycle and MTB races. I started racing MTB last year just for something to do with friends. I could see it becoming a real addiction.
    The short list:
    1.The rim nordics
    2.all the 12hrs
    3. both Hurkey 24hrs

On the otehr hand, I live to be tortured on a motorcycle. So I'm sure I'll be filling in the gaps with local enduros and grand prix.

So many races, so little time....

All of the So Cal Series Races
All 4 Rim Nordic Series Races
    Sea Otter
Maybe a 12hr here or there
Possibly some of the SRC races this winter for tune-ups.

As many Super D's as I can find at the race venues.

    All-in-all, I'm looking at 15-18 races in 2009.
