I am not into racing and am not training for anything for that matter, just love to stay in shape using my bikes. I would like some more options for food before going for a ride. I usually do rides similar to 15+ miles up and down at Aliso, Whiting to Old Camp and back, etc. I normally ride in the morning and will often times grab a granola bar and a banana and eat it in the car on my way to ride. What do you guys do for fuel?

I just have my daily cup of coffee and a sesame bagel with blackberry jelly. Usually good for a couple of hours.

I had a #1 from Jack today, Sirloin burger, curly fries, med drink. Did 9 miles at Culveras Lake with some friends. I tend to stay away from buffalo wings and beer before a ride.

2 - 3 eggs (or egg substitute), whole wheat toast, ~3 cups half-caff coffee, english muffin. OR 4 -5 pieces french toast (w/ syrup), coffee, anything not moving. etc. Topped off with a protein bar for a stressful ride. Maybe the edges of a peanut butter sandwich packed for later.

What you eat after riding is of equal importance - more protein and carbs.

For training anything goes. Most of my training is in the afternoon so it's most likely going to be sandwich, burger, tacos, burrito, etc a few hours before the ride with a quick snack just prior. The morning training ride meal is usually a cereal of some sort and a bottle of water to chase it as I prepare the bike and get dressed or drive to location..

Race day is a whole different ball game. wake up around 5am, drink a 50% chocolate milk(for the carbs)/muscle milk shake, head to race and sign in, eat a bar(cliff or LARA) warm up with a sport drink, pop about ten pills that don't do sheeaat, tell my friends how good the pills work, race. if the race will be longer then 1 hour I will drop a last minute gel in my belly and another about 40 minutes in.

Morning rides I usually eat yogurt with some sort of fruit and a glass of Hammer Perpetuem. This usually keeps me going for about an hour or so. I usually bring along all kinds of cliff bloks and maybe a bar or two depending on the duration of the ride.
