Well I've got my first XC race this Sunday. I don't think that I will have all of what is needed, so I thought I would ask all of you what you think I should try to bring. Here is what I was planning on taking:

    1. Bike (duh)
    2. pump
    3. MotorTabs
    4. lunch
    5. spare tube
    6. small tool kit
    7. gear (shoes, shorts, gloves, helmet, jersey, etc)

What else do I need? :bang:Thanks in advance.

I chose to use bottles instead of a Camelbak at my last race, but we left the cooler full of bottles at home. So, don't forget hydration.

Definitely not a bad idea to take something to eat after. Or, bring cash if they'll offer food.

Change of clothes if you choose to hang out for the rewards ceremony.

Forgot about the Camelbak. I've got one at home that I'll probably use. I forgot about the change of clothes.

heart rate monitor - so when you hit your max hr, everyone around you can hear your watch going off like a fire alarm (silence it, if you can).

beer - 21+, or if you have a cool uncle or something bring him.

a little cash - for a one day license or for grub at the venue.

    game face - self explanatory.

    good luck....race hard!

Don't forget a comb so you can fix your hair before they take your photo on the podium, and a breath mint so you won't offend the trophy girl when she kisses you.

Don't forget to have fun first of all !!
Don't try anything new on race day. Be it food or bike set up. Dont even wear new shorts or jearsey!!
Keep the testosterone in your back pocket and stick to your game plan(you do have one right??). A bunch of people are gonna sprint off the starting line. Let them go cause you are gonna pass them anyway!
Get everything ready to go the night before and get a good night sleep.

    :)

Oh yea this sounds funny but try to take a dump:?: before your race. 9 times outa 10 if you don't you will have to during the race:eek:!!!

Not necessarily.. in my last race the two chicks that finished 1-2 passed me easily before the 1/2mi mark of lap one and I never saw them again. They finished about 20 and 15 minutes ahead of me, respectively.. mind you, I still finished 3rd.

They beat half the sports men, so I think they should've been in expert, but, that's just me.

Maybe a Clif Shot? Before you go or during the ride?

Edit: and chocolate milk is a good recovery drink - tastes mighty good after a race!

I agree with Hugh on the "dump thing". I used to go to the dog track and would always bet on the dog who made the biggest doodie pile just before post time. Of course from the stands you kinda had to guestimate the size of said doodie pile. It's a windage thing... Sounds crude, but it worked!! #-o:lol:

Its the Springville Fat Tire Classic. Here is the link:http://www.socaltrailriders.org/for...-springville-fat-tire-classic-10-21-07-a.html

Should be fun. Check out the vid on the site!

That is sooo true! Everytime I head to the lake for fun, or for a contest, I always had to drop. It was like clockwork. I'll be sure to do that.
