is this pressure suit riding, or just the basic protection?

I think I'll be up there. I love riding big bear :bang:

bring what you think is necessary. trails like fall line are fast, fairly loose, and have lots of rocks. nothing really warrants a full pressure suit though.

personally, I wear my skate helmet, kyle straight knees, and gloves. if I'm feeling sketchy, I may grab some elbows too.

I go with a full face helmet, knee/shin protection and elbow protection. It's rocky so if you go down it can hurt.

That log that I landed on was not so comfortable.

also worth noting about armor: In my experience, you'll receive less leniency if your bike doesn't exactly meet their rules if you show up all armored up and such. not everybody needs to bend the rules though, so ride what you're comfortable wearing all day. and don't forget you'll be pedaling a decent amount

We rode Summit last Sat ... it's getting dry & loose. This was my second time there, with the first time being opening day. Opening day the trail conditions were much better since the dirt had some moisture in it and the trails weren't worn in yet. We weren't real impressed this 2nd time around ... but maybe that's because we were just up in Whistler for a week :) haha We run 35-40 lb. bikes so we mostly stay on more of the DH trails like upper & lower falline, pirates, etc.

As far as gear goes, wear what you feel you need that meets the type of riding you're doing. The faster you go or running more technical trails, the higher the risk. Minimum I would say is a helmet of course, gloves, jersey, padded riding shorts, knee pads and some sturdy shoes if you're not clipping in along with a camelbak. Knee/shin guards are nice if you're running the trails that are tight single track with thorn bushes around. I would say you really only need a full face helmet if you're an agressive rider doing the advanced trails at speed.

Just my 2 cents ..... most important ..... have fun up there !!

Just a heads up for saturday:
The staff knows we are coming and if it's 5 people or 500 people they are going to enforce the rules.

The "head" person at the Sky Chair informed me last saturday that they will be weighing bikes, checking fork travel and tire size. No mention of chain ring set up but regardless be prepared just in case. I was hoping the fact that a big group is coming up would show the support mtber's have for Summit but I guess maybe it's a hindrance:-k? I don't comprehend that logic :?:but it is what it is.
Just make sure your rig can get on the chair per Snow Summits rules unless you are pedaling up each time:lol:

Is anyone planning on riding the Cabin 89 trail on Saturday morning? I've only ridden it twice and don't know the route very well. I'll have a few people with me that might enjoy it. Let me know if it will be ok for us to tag along. Thanks

Damn! My UZZI is 36 pounds and has a totem on it. They probably won't let it on the lift.

Honestly Pat I think you would be ok, I think she was not in a good mood. I can't see turning someone back for a 1 lb and the fork...push it down8-[
