I took two consecutive recovery days in a row, yesterday and Monday.

I drank a few Ayinger Celebrators, which is a double bock, a few Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout, which is my favorite beer, and Sam Smith IPA. I also drank a Belgian Lambic beer, but don't tell anyone.

Beer is good for recovery, or so I've heard :bang::beer:

This is so true. Lots of people I know, myself included, who ride mostly as their exercise eventually have to focus on doing core work. That includes stretching especially of the hamstrings, glutes and IT band. You can get all can of wacky back problems, IT band problems etc from muscle imbalances.

I find the occassional swim to be great for stretching out my back and giving my legs a good rest.

But it does get more ladies, and the more ladies you show up to a race with, the higher the intimidation factor will be. That alone can win you races.

Mine got better by changing to a 6" FS bike, but also I got some exercises from a PT.

I've since stopped those, but I have been doing the core exercises provided from the bicycling.com link I posted early on in this thread. They're great, and cycling specific. Somewhat roadie, but if they help for riding longer in the drops, then they'll make a difference with riser bars also!

thanks! im convinced that it's the lack of conditioning in my core that's cuasing the lower back pain...i think old age has something to do w/ it as well :)

Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout is pretty readily available. BevMo is a sure thing, but good beer shops like HiTime, Vendome, Red Carpet, and many more keep it in stock pretty much all of the time.

    Hey, Jeff

found this thread late, but I'd like to put in a good word for Crossfit (www.crossfit.com). I've been doing it for almost two years, and it's helped my riding, climbing, mountaineering, and running immeasurably.

I only work out 3-4 times/week, and the workouts usually only take me 20-25 minutes. (it's usually a pretty puke-inducing 20 minutes, though...)

    Mike
