Anybody following La Vuelta(Tour of Spain)? It has been a very exciting race thus far. Today's stage was great, going up one of the toughest climbs in professional racing, L'Angliru in Northern Spain. If you have a chance, it comes up again tonight at 8 PM in universal sports channel.

I was watching it and loved it but with long hours and riding I have missed the last week. I did record it so I'm probably going to catch up on it tonight. Yeah, I agree very exciting Vuelta. Hard to watch everything with the Pro Tour in CO and this along with everything else.

Too bad they happen at the same time. I love the Vuelta and watch it every year. Not sure I'd want to race there in the SUMMER(?!?), but the countryside, cities and fans are incredible. Today's stage was absolutely nuts!

Yeah, it's a cool race. I;m surprised tons of riders have heard of TDF but not the Vuelta. I myself enjoy the race more than the TDF, so much to mix it up.

The hills defeat the sprinters early, no easy give me stages and the TT's set the climbers behind so that they have to work to catch back up.

What I thought was weird was one dude won a climbing stage, they gave him some cheapo looking wrought iron trophy of a tandem ha ha ha! What the heck does a tandem have to do with the Vuelta ha ha!

Turn on the 5 pm showing of the stage. Show starts, 5:05 go to commercial. Included is a Universal Sports update showing the action of the final sprint, names the stage winner and overall GC leader! :-k..........WTH!

Is it just me, but does it seem more of the bigger name riders rode the Pro tour in CO instead of the Vuelta a Espana????

Depends on who you know, I guess.:D

I was talking to a ride the other day aobut the Vuelta. He had never heard of it but vey familiar with the TDF. He knows the OC, Horner and Levi and all the greatly advertised TDF favorites. But has never heard of Vincenzo Nibali and many of the other big riders of other tours. Looking at the roster, maybe 6 or 7 Vuelta riders topped Horner an Levi but many wouldn't know who they are. Sastre, Menchov, Nibali, Igor Anton, Petacchi, Cancellara, Rodriguez, Arroyo, Val Verde etc.

Of course some of the TDF riders, Cavendish, Tyler Ferrar and a few others abandoned the ride early, like stage 4. Cadel did it last year I believe, won the points jersey. Schleck did it an one one stage. I guess it depends on who you consider the big names. ;)

IMO, seems many of the riders coming off the TDF decided on the shorter less demanding 6 day CO ride over the 21 days of another grand tour like the Vuelta. Riders like Horner are widely known but have they ever won a grand tour like the many of the guys in the Vuelta? Some of who have won the TDF including Jan Ullrich and Contador.

I dont know about online. I've been watching on Universal sports, digital channel 4.4, over the air, in the L.A. area.
I think I'm the only guy in town without cable!

Yeah, that was exciting! Wow, these guys have some guts. I love it when a rider says he's going for it and he does. I hate that "I'll just sit back and if I can" mentality, these guys were way above and beyond that cheeser attitude, they got balls!

No, I don't have cable either. I've missed the last couple of stages, but get the highlights here: http://www.universalsports.com/cycling/index.html

You aren't the only one, I dont have cable or satellite TV either. Universal Sports (4.4) is the one channel that I check everyday. Cycling and Beach Volleyball during the summers and Lindsay Vonn, Julia Mancuso rippin' down the ski slopes in the winter. Its the only channel I need.

I have been watching La Vuelta every evening. The climb up Angrilu was incredible also

What pisses me off is I have DirecTV and we FINALLY get US but now they are adding it to a "sports package" you have to buy in addition.... Its not even in HD on DTV!!!!

So how can I get it over the air w/o cable/satelite TV??? I might go that route so I can still watch

Go get a converter box where you can switch between your Satellite TV signal and Antenna signal. Go get an inexpensive set of rabbit ear antennas and tune in for free
