who lives close enough to Blackstar to get a sneak peak on Friday for Sat's ride? :?: If it's too muddy, it may be better to to Maple Spring (as mentioned above) with option of the peak or Motorway. Reply if you'd be open for that option...just beware of the black ice at the stream crossings (hard fall a couple years ago #-o)

I'll wait for Butcher's review, but based on the Snow Ride report..it may be best to take Saturday off. Please chime in if you agree/disagree/don't care! :?:

I would imagine that even if lower Bstar trail isnt muddy (very unlikely) then by the time you get towards Pleasants Peak you'll be a foot deep in snow and then some. Coming down Motorway would be dicey in snow to put it mildly!

After todays snow ride I would bet blackstar will be unrideable Saturday. With how much moisture there is on the ground right now it's gonna be a mess. Beeks has snow too. The only trail prob worth doing is STT or Holy Jim.

^^^ Yep. Probably just as challenging on a MTB.

I need 25,000' to make my goal of 700k of climbing for the year so I'm going to have a few painful days before the end of the year.

Either tomorrow or Saturday. Probably tomorrow since my MTB shoes will probably still be soaked tomorrow.

I've signed off this ride. I need some miles and would rather not gear up and head out just to find the conditions are so poor I can't ride. Instead, I'll be on the road bike with a few others.

Hopefully we can reschedule this ride soon.

Judging by pictures from Maxwell's winter wonder land adventure....we can't ride even pass the first turn on dirt at MS.#-oWith more rain/snow in the forecast don't think anyone can do that ride.

Think a spandex road ride is the only option right now.

Anyone down for a 60 or 90 miler? The seven sister does sound interesting also.:-k

I'm not quite convinced that riding flats is the way to train for an event with about 8000ft or 11000ft of climbing...

Chewy and I rode up from Skyline up to the golf ball last night. The gate at the bottom of Skyline was open so there was probably 20 P/U trucks out there playing last night. The last mile just before you hit the main divide was a sloppy mess. Once up to beaks though, the snow was compacted enough to ride(although not very enjoyable). I can just imagine what the rest of the divide would have looked like.....#-o

Up to beaks was all ridable. :bang:

Looks like I'm going to be putting in some miles on the bike path somewhere on Sat. I need to put in some miles, but I don't own a road bike. MTB on the road it is for now. Gotta go pickup some road slicks for the 29'er. :-k
