With permission from the CNFS we can finally get a chance to train and ride the areas that are closed. This is a training ride and since it is a guided one we are limited to about 50 spots or so. We will take the first 50 who RSVP and those riders will be notified of any changes. Once you RSVP "YES", DO NOT change your reply cause it will drop you to the bottom of the list and you may end up out.

The proposed route will be the Black Star, Silverado MW, Maple Springs to the peak and back down Maple Springs.

Riders will be expected to be self supporting and be able to make the cutoffs at Beek's, Maple Springs and 4 corners. No one will be allowed to venture on their own.

I will have guides in front, middle and a sweeper. You don't have to go all the way, but once we get past Eagle, you are commited since we will not be able to "guide" you back. From there, you can just do the Silverado trail and then out to Silverado Canyon Rd if you feel it's not your day.

After a short re-group, the others and I will continue up to 4 corners, there will be the option to turn back there and head back down. There will be guides with you. The rest will head up to the peak, then turn back. We are not to go beyond the peak as the rules set forth by the FS has indicated in the permit.

I know there are other rides scheduled the same day, so sorry for the short notice.

Sunday's route will be Maple Springs to the peak if you can't make this one. Hope to see you there.

    When: Sat, Feb 16th
    Ride Time : 8am
Route : Black Star to the peak

NOTE: Meeting place is the tree lot on Black Star.

    Here are the rules:

    1. The ride is intended for high intermediate and expert riders

    2. Only those who RSVP will be allowed on the ride. You cannot RSVP for
    friends.

    3. You must provide a valid ID the morning of the ride. The Forest
    Service
is requiring that participant's names be kept so we can report any
    rider
that illegally leaves the ride to them for prosecution.

    4. Your bike must be clean to avoid the spread of invasive species near
    the
    burn areas.

    5. You cannot pass the lead guide.

    6. You cannot continue on down the back side of the Peak once you reach
    it.
    You must exit Maples Springs.

Yes, we plan on doing another on the 23rd. I may put one on for the 22nd which is a Friday as well. The routes have yet to be determined, but depending on the amount of guides available, we could repeat the CC route on the 23rd. Friday's may be Maple Springs to Silverado(MW) trail, no shuttle needed.

"I will activate the RSVP function as soon as I get the OK to do so. This will be 1 of a few I will schedule before the Pow Wow. I know there are other rides scheduled the same day, so sorry for the short notice. Sunday's route will be Maple Springs to Holy Jim if you can't make this one. Hope to see you there."

I disabled it for now till I get the OK to go ahead and take on riders.

Won't happen tonight. Waiting to hear from Chris V and he's waiting to hear from the FS. Most likely later in the week, so you can all relax for now.

i would love to go, but being diagnosed with bronchitis last wednesday pretty much kills this opportunity for me. i will do a mellow lap at the adrenaline demo at the oaks and hopefully do a longer ride on sunday and monday.

Yes, the first X number to RSVP once it's activated will be in, much like a docent led ride. I will keep the RSVP list but I will try to close it in time once we hit the max and contact anyone who is in by PM or email to confirm their spot. Still trying to get as many guides to commit, so we won't be limited to 30 riders.

Yes, unfortunately the FS wants us to stay as group, but if I can get enough guides, we can do an "A" group and a "B" group. I'm giving riders the max time to get to to Maple Springs(4 hrs) and 4 corners (2 hrs) like the CC, I know this is far too slow for a VQ pace, but we have no choice, not counting re-groups at each check point, this will be a long day. Once we reach the peak. you'll be free to ride on your own so long as you continue south towards HJ and Trabuco where it's open. Hope this helps.

I'll be away from the computer, I just got off work and I'm going to hit the trails for a couple hours :D.
