OMG! I was riding in that very time frame with my friend. We were wondering about the chopper flying around for quite a while. Where the airlift took place seem more like around "I think I can," but it might have been an optical allusion.

So glad to hear you are fine. Thank you very much for the photos. You are a trooper! Wishing speedy recovery.

What's all the fuss? It's not like you were pinned under a rock and had to cut off your own arm. What a crybaby:)
Heal up fast. I'm just waiting for the "Help vonvon pay his medical bill " ride.

Wow - really glad to hear a relatively good outcome on this. I kept hearing bits and pieces of the story over the past couple days, and frankly I expected way worse. Glad to see no surgery or massive helo bills are required, and you definitely scored some major tough guy points in that ordeal. It seems like the rescue was as traumatic as the crash.

Best wishes on healing fast & fully, and +1 on looking forward to a ride with you one of these days.

I am so impressed that there is a first hand actual ride report, and photos. Stud.

Great report! Intense for sure. I wonder though, if you had the where-with-all to ask a stranger to snap your photo, I would think you could take a moment to smile (or grimace) for the camera instead of writhing all over the rocks as it appears you are doing!
Still, glad you are OK. How long to heal? ;)

shouldn't this be a sticky? "What makes a good crash report"

I remember getting the shakes when I crashed in Mammoth. didn't know if I was just cold or dying because I heard my friend say there was blood coming out of my ear. all I ended up paying was $50 for an ambulance ride and a trip to the ER.

hopefully not having a break shortens your recovery time. get well soon.

    On the mend

When I had my hand in the air I was attempting to wave and say hi to the camera but I was in to much pain to do anything but breath heavy.

Apparently I landed twice. I had no Idea what was going on because while I was in the Medivac I was strapped in the gurney and could only see the roof. I remember landing and then taking off again and wondering what the heck is going on ?? get me to the hospital!!

Calzone came to get my bike and told me they landed me right on the baseball field next to the park entrance on Ridge park to have the medics who treated me on the trail get on board then took off again. Calzone told me the Medivac swooped in right over the parked cars onto the field sideways. He said the wind nearly knocked him over. He was able to get a couple of snap shots of the it landing.

The injury is healing nicely. Just very bruised, stiff and sore but getting better everyday. I had big plans this weekend and next for riding and the fact that I cant ride is the most difficult part of the healing process.

I saw the helicopter land on the baseball field! Should have taken some photos so I could get an autograph from you :).

That explains why the chopper took off again without unloading the injured, and why no ambulance was present.

I think everyone I have gone with has gone down on Rattle Snake. Two years ago one my friends did a pretty good face plant.
