The "No pics? Didn't happen!" Dodged!
There is something a lil twisted about that part and I love it!
    Definite hardcore points scored! :bang:

If you also dodged having to shell out serious dough for the lift, that is also very cool!

Dude I don't actually know you but just the same glad you are OK, nice account/RR.

The straightening out by your self...nicely done...its amazing what you can do when you need to if you keep your cool...and you actually look fairly relaxed in the photos.

The snakes thing did crack me up though...can't trust those damned snakes.

Heal Up & keep the rubber side down.

I was riding at Crystal Cove last night too. When I was getting ready to roll out from the parking lot to start the ride, two people came up to me and said a rider was down. They said the helicopter was having a hard time finding the rider on Rattlesnake. I said I would head that way and do what I could.

I was relieved that Von was in good hands when I got there. They circled looking for a place to land for a long time like others have mentioned. When I reached I-THINK-I-CAN they were finally lifting Von out. It was a relief to see, but I could only imagine how scary it was.

Rattlesnake has gotten more technical this year. I've noticed a big difference from the beginning of the year to now. There are bigger drops that are sort of hidden and can cause some easy OTBs. Also, like Von mentioned, it's a tough spot to get injured riders out due to the steepness and narrow trail.

Here are some pictures. Also, as a side note, I've never seen so many bunnies during one ride before. They were everywhere!

Glad you're okay Von! Good luck on the recovery!

Thanks for coming to see if you could help. It was a long, long, long time at least it seemed long until they found me. I think I remember a mtbkr stopping and talking to the medics but I was kinda out of it at that point sucking in the Oxygen.

Wow, what an ordeal. Glad to hear U did not break any bones!
I ride alone a lot and ALWAYS leave the cell phone in the car.
After hearing your story I think I will start packing it .
I am glad your Helo ride was a free service. Thanks to the Fire Dept guys for
doing a great job getting you off the mountain. You will be back on your bike in no time at all.......just take it easy and do not rush things.
    Best wishes and heal well.

So if i dislocate my arm I can get a free helicopter ride too?! SWEET!!!! ;)

REALLY glad there was somewhat of a happy ending. The initial reports were a little bit scary not knowing what happened but after reading your version it actually made me laugh. All that for a dislocated arm. MAN UP!

glad to see you have a positive if not humorous approach to that happened. Just a year ago I had to walk a friend out from Rattlesnake...yep..sketchy at times. Glad you're gonna be ok!
