Yes, they are open, as long as you can withstand the somewhat poor air quality. Another local ride that is also open is Cherry Canyon above the Descanso Gardens.
thnk! forgot about Descanso trails. They are back in the circuit- maybe a trail building day out there since they are going to get add'l usage...
Yes! it's pretty sweet, too. i've not been lately ('cause the San Gabs were sooo good, why go anywhere else?) but it seemed the trails were pretty "long in the tooth". had not seen any loving or trail work in a long time.. .
Just bumping my own thread. They may be scruffy, they may be brown, they may not be the San Gabs, but THE VERDUGOS ROCK. Basically a case of "if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with".
I did the singletrack on the west end of Verdugo Motorway last weekend. I had to HAB quite a bit - definitely not a good idea on Small Block 8's Do you happen to have a link to information on the Descanso trails?
Descanso Gardens, aka Cherry Canyon is a great option for beginner or novice riders. When I first got into riding, I used to love riding there. No climb is too long or steep and no single track is really technical. Perfect for a quick jaunt and you can make it as long and tough as you'd like by looping many options. That being said, it's a small area. http://www.lamountains.com/parks.asp?parkid=629
