    Hi guys,

I've got 105 wheels right now. I've broken 2 spokes on the rear without potholes or anything. Snapped em at the nipple....

A friend has some NEW ultegra 6600 series wheels. I've heard ultegra is lighter AND stronger. These also have the nipples at the HUB versus the rim.

Will these be suitable for me? I'm 235 lbs or so.

Don't want to break a spoke on my 118 mile ride in vegas on sat.... would totally kill the trip :(

You know how I feel on these. I'm 240 lbs and I feel completely confident on these wheels. And remeber my bike was a demo before I got it, and I've put 1000 miles on them with no problems.

I'd have to double check when I get home but I'm almost positive I have the 6600. I don't even see a 6700 wheelset on the Shimano site, and the other 6700 parts seem to be the new ultegra modeled after the new Dura-Ace.

    You got a geary frame?

They wont explode under you.. and if they do, i'll take em to the shop to fix em for me (so they think i own em still LOL)

Chewy I am pretty sure zack has the 6600. They show two Ultegra wheels on shimano site 6600 and 6700 and the 6600 are labeled as Ultegra SL and thats what speced on the bike he has.

If for some reason you pass pm the wheels I might be interested.

You might want to look at Mavics Ksyrium Elites. You can get ones that weigh 100 grams less than the Ultegra for cheaper from what I have found.

DavidB didn't say he needed stronger so I was assuming he wanted to go to a lighter wheelset.

i'm passing on new wheels for a while, just got me thinking that's all. Chewy's broken spokes twice now on his 105 but he has 30+ pounds on me, so i'm hoping mine will hold up. Just wondering if the Ultegra wheels can be lighter and stronger for not much more $

    Cheap, Light, Strong,

    Pick any two.

-i'm intrigued that my wheels keep breaking at the nipple (narrowest X-section, and cut threads), so i want to see if the ultegra wheels (which have the nipples at the hub, and bigger nipples) will fix this.
