    I'm not a downhiller by any means. Correct me if I'm wrong but this race is going to won through the opened straights. You could make up a lot of time for misjudgments through the techie parts. I believe physical fitness will prevail through theses opened straights.

    TWR Team Manager says theyre winning with a thousand paper cuts. Set-up, race strategy, skill and oddly enough, they say they dont have the athletic advantage.

    Rob Warner actually used the phrase (properly) during Gwin's run - saying that the other riders are dying "a death by a thousand paper cuts." I believe he meant that Gwin does "a thousand" things differently on the course (and in his preparation) - none of which is a big advantage by itself.

    I dunno if he's doing a lot of little things right or he just knows how to go faster, I just know it's been fun to watch. Kelly Slater sees the wave differently than anyone else, and that helped him win 11 world titles. Gwin sees the track differently than everyone else.

    I think the opposite might be true. I think most of them will be able to carry similar speed in the open straights just fine (unless they have to pedal). Times will be very close. He who manages the turns and tech better will carry the day. You're spot on about fitness though - it's a long course.

    I doubt it mark. Probably showing what they have been showing. It would be nice if they did showed more of the riders riding more of the courses.

    Yeah red bulls takeover was hyped that it would be a step forward and better yet its a step back. I dont see more camera angles, I see less riders.
