TUNNELS STILL CLOSED (Del Mar Mesa)

Just got this from SDMBA.

Notice: TUNNELS STILL CLOSED

The "Tunnels" area is technically not part of Los Pensasquitos Canyon Preserve, it is Del Mar Mesa, and like Carmel Mountain Preserve it is managed separately. Since the Resource Management Plan (RMP) that designates the management and trail plan for Del Mar Mesa has not been finalized, it is not yet open to the public.

We think it a good idea to stay out until it is opened. We (SDMBA members, and pro-trail members of the community) have been fighting to gain reasonable trail access by providiing input to the proposals for the RMP, and it would be nice to show that we can act responsibly by honoring the trail closure, especially when we are trying to work within the system to create the rules we wish everyone to abide by. We know this DMM RMP issue is long and drawn out and it's painful to wait for legal trail access to become available, but we hope riders can be patient and help demonstrate that mountain bikers are good citizens by doing the right thing.​
