As was said before, I think Greg LeMond, "it doesnt get any easier, you just go faster".

You are already there. Tire installation 101, It aint easy, just do it. It gets easier and more makes-sense-er.
50 psi? Afraid of lawyers? Just pop them beads dog, what yo compressor got dog?

Jus look a this guy... you think he afraid to apply the pressure?
    You bet he aint-
Jus give him em a second...

Well I know it can be done but at what expense? I have already scratched up my rear wheel and bent my tire levels trying to get the rear one. Still not even close.

Steppy wouldn't know. He just stares down a tire, until the beads seat themselves out of fear. :bang:

Try some of larger DH tires (Intense DH tires) and you will find that you might need them.

Your going to lose some paint but thats all I have ever done to then with those.

Truthfully I only had to use them once. That was when I first started riding and bought a wire-bead tire and tried getting in on a old rim that did not have a center channel.

Electrical tape on the tire lever will prevent rim scratches. I've used motorcycle tire levers on stubborn tires before but this Pedro's DH tire lever is thinner and works much better

Electrical tape will prevent scratches, but wont prevent you from bending your rim lip.

I had a helluva time mounting my UST Nevegals with my DIY tubeless (20" tube). I have composite levers that are super heavy duty but they flex, so I know they will bend before my rims bend.

I guess if I do the tubeless on UST DH tires, I should be using them on beefy ass rims that can handle the extra leverage those DH tire levers have.

contrary to what everyone else here is saying, be careful going above the recommended psi. i had a UST kenda small block explode and spew stans fluid all over my living room at 60 psi. ruined a fairly new $35 tire. and it scared the sh!t out of me when it blew.

lots of soapy water and a second pair of hands is often helpful. good luck!

I believe the DT strips conform to the UST standard. I have seen them shift on very few occasions, and in none of them, did it cause a problem. That is after doing and following up on a lot of setups, and riding them myself. With best technique, you can almost always get away with two normal tire levers and your hands. Push the bead all the way to the middle of the rim channel on both sides. This makes the tire looser. It can be good to set up a tricky set with tubes for one day to get the tire to take form.

So who do I contact to replace my two broken tire levers, a minion tire with a ripped bead, a scratched rim and 3-days of wasted time? Maxxis, DT swiss....?

This rear wheel is about 10x harder than the front was.

The real question is, did you learn how to do the job correctly, or are you still blaming the components?

I'm guessing you were installing the rear tire 10x wrong.

    I dunno, maybe.

I have about 6-8 inches left but the freaken tire hangs down about an inch over the wheel. I have had three people try to help me and even went to the LBS and they told me it would be extremely difficult.

Alrighty, so we have a conclusion to this story. I decided to take the rim and tire over to The Path Bike Shop and have them take a look. After 20 minutes and 5 broken plastic tire levers the tire was still off the rim. Another guy (with the beard) whipped out a metal tire lever and was actually able to get the tire on the rim and a bit of a struggle! However, that is when we ran into bigger problems. Upon adding compressed air into tire (probably to 55-60psi), the tire, with an absolute violent sound, exploded off the rim. After the ear ringing stopped, everyone looked in amazement at a tire with a bead that was absolutely mutilated. I was shocked, pissed, laughing etc. It was crazy. Anyways, the tire was bought at Jenson but The Path blew it up. I don't know who is at fault. I emailed Jenson and will get back to the Path. I really don't have proof that the Path is liable for this because the tire could have already been shipped damaged and if they were they would have to go through Maxxis which could take weeks.

    Any suggestions?
