How about the Giant Anthem or the Ironhorse Azure? I've had horst link and faux bar bikes and think the DW link and the Giant version suspension bikes are pretty sweet. Super firm on th fireroad climbs but very plush going down hill.

Not matter what bike you pick I'd take a look at the head angles. I know the racier bikes usually have steeper head angles and are quicker turning. I personally like my bikes to have a slacker head angle for descending. So HA would be a pretty big deal to me. Just something else to think about.

Have you ever considered selling your bikes and taking up needlepoint?? Might be less life threatening.

    Although, there are needles involved:-k

    Went with Element

I decided on the element. I demo'd an Ellsworth, although it was the epiphany not the truth. Nice bike, very plush, bobs like crazy. The suspension felt like a big american car, it floated over everything. The back tire also broke loose around fast bumpy turns. The element is a better climber, quicker and more responsive. I probably like it better because it's more like a hardtail. Maybe in a couple of years I'll look at getting a custom bike like a Turner or Titus or Intense. I wasn't that impressed with the Ells.

    Thanks for all your advice.

i say go rocky. as much as i like the stiffness of my turner (i no longer have it), there was way too much bobbing and looking back was the most inefficient bike to pedal. i'd always get on other peoples bike and feel like their bikes pedaled way easier. not slamming turner by any means - they make a beautiful bike and its great for some rinders/types of riding, but i found it to be difficult to climb....
never had an elsworth, but from what i've gathered from the industry, they are not reliable. some people will ride them to the grave, so i know some really like them.
rocky makes a fine bike. great quality and kind of a legendary brand....

    Who is spewing a bucket 'o' sh!t :lol::lol::lol:

j/k PF..you the man! playin' no hatin' on Turners or Homers, err i mean their open minded owners;). wasn't aware Truths still having crack issues but you may be in the know. May be semantics but not sure Ells warranty is issue (i.e what is covered) but perhaps their willingenss to honor them and/or take responsibility for issue..either way guess end up in same place, huh?. That said if purchased from a good LBS they can usually help you navigate through the BS

peter - sounds like you made your pick. congrats and enjoy

platform based shocks are a band aid for a poor climbing suspension... DW and meastro suspensions don't need that crap :bang:

back then it was a fox rp3 i believe, or a float. then i went to a 5th element, then back to the fox when push stepped in to tune it. always been air shocks, no coils.

not slamming on turners at all. i really did like it, it was very comfortable and was very responsive on dh. but, for me, it wasnt the right bike for climbing... thats all.

    Can't find an element!

It looks like there are no more '07 element 70's left in 19" and they've already started on the '08's. So, my options are and '06 element 70, get an element 30 and build it up with diff components or get a Titus racer X or motolite. Anyone out there have any comments about the Titus. I think I'm leaning towards it, even though it'll cost me some bucks. The motolite still has a fairly aggressive geometry and might be better for places like mammoth.

    Cheers

you should also look into the chumba xcl frame, its a bit cheaper than the motolite and will be a bit more aggressive. you also get the choice to run a dhx air or rp23

if you have some time off and are willing to travel down to the OC, hit up Jason and i'm sure he'll hook you up with a demo bike to ride
