I'm just getting into the whole mountain biking thing. I went to the Southridge race event on Sunday and it was super awesome that it inspired me. I use to mountain bike a long time ago (1996) but since then have been doin road. This is my first bike with disc brakes and full suspension. I started making this bike here but its a work in progress.

You totally should have kept the first saddle. ;)

oh, a quick note on the stepdown pedals, make sure you put a bit of loctite on the little aluminum spindle cover, they like to come loose, and thats bad because it also holds the outboard bearing tight in the pedal body.

you may also want to install slightly taller traction pins (or twist them out a smidge)

I started with just the frame so there was no saddle on there so I'm not sure what the original saddle was, unless ur talking about the seat from the Santa Cruz that i dismantled :)

I slapped on a Sram X-9 Derailleur on this thing today. I'm not sure if I should swap out the front derailleur with an X-9.

I'd ditch the front derailleur and go 1x9 with a LG1 chain guide.

How long is that stem? Hard to tell but it looks loonnngggg....

I could put a shorter one on there I suppose. Whats the benefit of a shorter stem? and when would you want a longer stem vs a shorter stem?

bottle rocket shouldn't have anything but a 50mm on it , otherwise its going to steer way funky. Mines 1x9 with a 34 in the front and i have no problem pedaling it up a couple thousand feet.....slowly

okay. I have a Kore B52 55mm but that's the shortest I have so I'll try that out. Is there a certain angle that you want? I don't plan to go ballz out with this bike, as I'm just getting into the whole MTB thing, but more like small jumps and drops and heavy terrain.

Just sold mine. Beautiful bike. What is the projected weight? If built as intended use suggests they get heavy quick.
