    Thank You All

Aliso is a fun place to ride and I've been watching this thread hoping it would turn out this way. I really appreciate everyones hard work to make Aliso more fun. I just got in from an out of town trip, actually a redeye from HI. I wanted to help out but my work schedule has been nuts working weekends for the past 3 months. Not really complaining, with so many out of work these days I'm happy to have a job. I think I've been out riding twice in the past 4 months which kind of blows, so I'm glad to see the weekend work load come to an end.

My point is thanks for all the great photos and you guys kicked ass with the trail work. The trail looks really awesome. Do you pick it up at the bottom of Mathis?

No, the bottom comes out at the Oak Grove which is the trail at the bottom of Mathis. From the bottom, it would be a HAB, lots of chunky rocks and steep inclines. You would pick it up at the near the top of Mathis. Once it opens next Sunday, it'll be marked with a sign at the entrance of it.

OK, that's true, I'm not going out any time soon with this bum knee...but I'm looking at Car Wreck as a nice Monday night hike to restart the fitness level for Whitney...(after the trail's grand opening, of course!)

Part of the problem with hikers not hearing bikes is that they're not listening for them...either the iPod is turned up too loud, or they're just not paying attention. When I hike up Lynx, RockIt, Cholla, I'm usually listening FOR bikes coming at me. Its not that hard to step aside and wait for the riders to come through.

Just a suggestion, but maybe we should have an STR group ride to commemorate the reopening of a great trail. :)

+1. I know I'll be walking the lower third of that trail. Car Wreck is a great addition for the people who are looking for steep and chunky stuff, but be careful your first time down. It's way nastier than the rest of the trails on that side of the park.

Sorry that I skated in at the last second and that I couldn't stick around for lunch, but at least that meant more pizza for Pat! I thought that was really fun to get out there and do some trail work (yes, fun!), especially with such a big group that was able to do so much so quickly. I'm looking forward to more of these work days.

Way too techy for my skills. Rutty, narrow, low branches and the real possibility of ending up in the trunk of a car (you'll see what I mean). I keep thinking about all the emergency calls that will be coming from here soon.

Went for a quick spin this morning after work and spoke to Ranger Ed. The Ceremony will be short and sweet, about 10-15 minutes or so. No real high profile County officials expected to attend, just mostly trail users. So come on out and and be the 1 of the 1st groups to ride it(legally at least)

Ya I went down Mathis today and looked over at Car Wreck. Really looks steep from Mathis.

Lots of chunky sections near the bottom.

LOL!! Garrett my young friend, don't confuse surviving with cleaning. Nobody EVER said anything about cleaning Joplin... maybe you misheard me talking of cleaning my bike AFTER Joplin ;) Also, this trail makes Joplin look like kids play on a ridgid and I think it won't make much difference if you are SS or 30 speed when you are riding down Car Wreck. The only decision being made will be "to freewheel or not to freewheel"
