What kind of shape are these trails in ? Has anyone been there since the rains?

Me Chris V And Steve worked on Trabuco today. We remove A TON of brush from trabuco. Its all clear from the bottom to the Xmas tree. I'm running horse theif on wed. and will see what condittion it is in. Im hoping its not as bad as Holy Jim and Trabuco. There as many trees and its mostly manzanita so it should have held up better.

Trabuco is impassible. It has been cleared from the bottom to the Christmas tree, but very thick beyond that.

No one has had a chance to scout WHT. If anything like the other trails up there, I'm sure there will be some blockage as well. Matt aka ocrider will be heading up tomorrow to check the condition of WHT and I plan on checking upper HJ to see if it is blocked by trees. Both have mostly manzanita.

    I don't understand the question.

I was planning to take the weekend off trailwork, but couldn't believe what I was hearing about HJ, etc. So I made a few calls and was asked to check out Trabuco Trail (on Sunday morning).

Caught a ride to Holy Jim parking lot with KWH and Bob M., and rode up to Trabuco. Started seeing downed limbs and broken branches within the first 1/2 mile, and began clearing those, as well as minor rockslide debris. Removed debris from stream crossing at Horsethief junction, and cut a path under a fallen pine in another 1/4 mile or so. Continued like this to the top of the shale over about a five hour period.

Judging from photos and reports, I got off easy. As much of a mess as I saw, it only got worse higher up. Fortunately, the Warriors are out in force and things are getting handled.

I will say that the ride down from my turn-around point was sweet, even on my rickety old bike, and if all the cuts and bruises and poison-oak rash make it look like I took a beating, you shoulda seen the other guy.

PS: Speaking of other guys, I came across a full-on cowboy with two horses, a six-shooter in a holster, and a rifle in a scabbard who was breaking camp on the Trabuco Trail as I was heading up. He claimed to be heading to the peak, and I wished him well...

Maxwell, Ladd Jasper, Dano and I took care of all the big stuff on Trabuco. There were still a couple low ceilings but the trail is very ridable. We also did a lot of work on Bell all the way to Yeager. DFT and Frenchy did the HAB up Yeager :-k and did an excellent job cleaning the trail from the bridge up. I think they got everything except three big logs that were too much for their saws. They made them as easy to pass as possible.

    Trabuco trail work

We went up to Trabuco this morning to finish it up. Thanks to Maxwell, Dell, Ken, Danno, DFT and Frenchy, there wasn't much left to do. Thanks guys for the work you all did on Trabuco. The entire route of the VQ/CC is now clear of fallen trees and brush. Now snow (around the peak).... well that's another story. ;)

If you're doing all this trail work, the knee must be feeling a lot better, grasshoper.

Knee feels good to walk cause I can put all the weight on the the right leg. I had to walk carefully so I didn't slip on rocks or snow(if any).

Thanks for the link Troy. Assume pics. Calvin went up WHT on his way to Bell yesterday. He said it was ok. I guess I'll have to climb it to find out for myself. I may go up on Monday and do WHT to HJ loop.

    WHT trail work

Today with the high winds, I wasn't sure if we should do this work, but much to my surprise, I walked out of the house and it wasn't that windy. Lots of riders at the dirt lot on Trabuco.

Treve, Jerone, Mike C, Bob R and I HAB WHT and completely brushed it. Bob ran the trail and worked his way back down while Jerone, Mike, Treve and I rode in from the HJ lot to the top.
We cleared more of the blow over from the snow that WAS there and brushed the entire trail.

Thanks to those who went up and cut, cleared before today and for all the reports. It made today's trail work much easier. When we finished WHT, we rode over to Holy Jim and linked up with the crew who finished brushing it.

    Here are a few pics:
