Very last trail section of Fully, and got myself stuck in a nice rut. Was about to go OTB when I was able to step off to the right and did a 180, along with my bike. Walked away with just a gash on my left leg. watch here:
Cracked my helmet there with an OTB on that exact same rut. I crawl through that section now, good bail tho
Like I always tell myself, dont think about the ruts or else they will hear you lol they seem to have a magnetic effect
I still get a little spooked on that stretch. In April of 2011, I was taking an easy ride before driving up to Sonoma. The grass was tall and I was hugging the top line. Something kicked my front tire out and right into the rut. I was launched OTB to flat on my back (and something damn hard) about twenty feet from the big tree before you veer left at the bottom. the final tally - fractured my shoulder blade, slight concussion and a trip to ER. [h=2][/h] What part of the Loop is that?? - the last short single track after the dam and just before Golfers' Paradise parking lot.
I'm gonna ask a stupid question.. is the Fully Loop actually worth riding or is this just a loop that people hit for convenience who live very close to it? I've never ridden it, and never heard any reason to ride it, but as others have mentioned numerous times, this place gets more airtime on STR than any other.. just curious if this was some amazing ride I am missing out on or what? I certainly haven't seen any footage, crash clips or otherwise that make it look remotely interesting as a place to ride unless it was literally in my backyard.. am I missing something?
It's an enigma. I enjoy it from time to time, the Thursday night rides there used to be pretty epic back in 07!!! If I lived in the area, I'd certainly ride it in the evenings after work.
Pretty much a convenience thing for me. I'm always in the area, so it's what I ride most. If it's out of your way, MAYBE you can go to check it out just once, but it's more of a noob-friendly ride with some small extra credit sections (like the one in my video) that are fun to ride.
It's worth hitting up if you're nearby just to get a quick ride. Pretty mellow, makes for good social rides since it's near downtown. Not really worth going out of your way for otherwise. If you're really interested, hit it when there's one of the thursday night rides, that'll make it more exciting.
The first time Im rode it I was solo so I spent most of the time in the trail guide figuring out what to do next. Much more fun when a local shows ya the little extra credits. I ride it once every couple of years purely for social reasons. Why leave Laguna to sit in traffic. Dean
Perfect example of trying to hard to stay out of the rut......Ride the ruts man Ride the ruts! They are your friends!!!! lol Nice bail out
I'm obviously going to have to make the long trek from Irvine so I can say I've ridden it.. I will make sure to try and coordinate with someone who knows the extra credits..
Give me a break! I used to drive down from Rancho Santa Margarita for the thursday night rides there...Like said before make sure you go with someone that knows extra credit
Ha! That's why I dropped the smiley face.. that's not far for me at all.. I can handle a short drive to Fullerton.. just wanted to make sure it was worth it.. sounds like I will put it on the ToDo list..
