4000 ft is too much for my young legs.

    Looks like fun though!

Mark, I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed today's ride. The climb really killed me but getting to the Ruins w that view was worth the pain.

Sunset is a killer ST. For those of you who haven't ridden it yet - do it!! The exposure is crazy steep; I tried so hard not to look at it but my peripheral vision wouldn't shut off.

Best part about riding w Mark: He'll let you know where other riders went off the cliff just as your ready to pass that section, let you get lost (I told Wade: it's best we stay put and MARK come find us, he's got the legs, we don't) and point out: Rox, you need a new front tire, yours is bald (right before I descend)...lol Was I shittin my pants??...umm, yeah!

Let's go do it again....next time, Little Merrils. I'll fuel up better too before we add that trail.

They went up lower Sam Merrill, then across to the fire road that takes you to inspiration point. Then they decended middle Sam Merrill and came out at the top of lower Sam. Then across again over to sunset. Sunset down to brown mtn fire road and then down el prieto. Correct me if I am wrong but that is the normal loop.

It very fun. Have the jockey take you on a loop sometime. If you do a semi shuttle it's around 20 mile and 4k climbing. With no shuttle it's about 27 miles and 6k climbing.

Kevin: we took a vote (mostly me begging...lol) and decided not to climb to Inspiration Point (you can't trust Mark...kidding) and did not descend Middle Merrill; it was warm out and climbing Sam Merrill w all those step-ups zaps your energy quick!

If you search my old posts you will find dozens of the more obscure San Gab rides. I have always liked the high country gab rides much more than the front range. Get back in there further and you will get away from the hikers and have hour of riding without seeing anyone.

You're not kidding about the hikers, Steppie. Although all of them were pleasant, there was one group of about eight, I couldn't shake off my back tire...they were fast little boogers!

Dean is right! I rode 15 miles in the Crystal Lake area today and saw 3 hikers. And riding in the snow was fun too. The wind today...not so much.
