I'm going to stick it out and cancel by Thursday if it's not getting any better.
I have 5 weather sites bookmarked and none seem to agree exactly as to what is going to happen.
Fingers are still crossed! If it rains, I may go there and ride anyway out of spite on Saturday or Sunday!
There are plenty of fire roads that handle the water well and it'll still be really pretty!

    California State Parks Cancellation Policy

    * The $8.00 reservation fee is non-refundable

    * If you cancel a reservation, a cancellation fee of $7.50 will be assessed per reservation. Cancellations can be done online or by calling the call center.

    * If you need to change your arrival/departure date and/or site, you must call ReserveAmerica at 1-800-695-2269 by 5:00 PM the day before your arrival date. A change fee of $8.00 will be assessed per reserved campsite.

    * If you cancel your reservation after 5:00 PM the day before your arrival date, the campsite fee for one night is forfeited

Call Center Hours: March - September: 8 am - 6 pm
    October - February: 9 am - 5 pm (weekdays), 9 am - 3 pm (weekends)
    December 18-31: 8 am - 5 pm
On Sale Days: 8 am - 6 pm

    # A campsite will be held for you until 12:00 NOON the day after your arrival date. If you have not called the park before that time, you will be considered a "no show" and the park will cancel your reservation. You will be refunded the amount paid for the campsite, less the non-refundable $8.00 reservation fee, the $7.50 cancellation fee and one night use fee. If you miss your first day but plan to arrive later, you must call the park each day to hold the remainder of your reservation.

    # If you must leave the park one or more days early, you must check out before 12:00 NOON. Retain your camping confirmation letter until you have received your refund or your charge card has been credited. Allow at least 30 days to receive your refund.

    # If California State Parks closes a campground due to an emergency or disaster, ReserveAmerica will make every effort to notify you. In these cases, all fees will be refunded as soon as possible.

    # In cases of inclement weather, when the campground remains open, but you choose to leave, refunds will be issued based on the early out policy.

Thank you for supporting California State Parks!

I hope it doesn't rain but my other option is a bachelor party in P.S. I can't decide so I"ll let the weather decide for me.

It WILL be beautiful Saturday and Sunday - If we will it to be, so it it shall be. A mere weather pattern is no match for the collective will of STR...

It's what the storm left behind that can stop you.
The main canyon is hard packed and sandy with plenty of steam crosssings for a rinse, the only worry is wear on your chain. The canyon singletracks have some soft areas subject to damage.

There are a few sections of the trails that turn into sticky slime that will stop you from rolling.

    1. The Overlook trail - after crossing the stream the fireroad is death mud for two switchbacks. Even HAB can be misery. Size 10 shoes leave size 16 footprints.
If you climb Backbone don't go down Overlook until you check the conditions.

    2. The Backbone trail - 3/4 of the way up it's slime again until the climbing gets easier on the sandy ridge.

    3. Guadalasca - near the bottom are two short sections of slime, scrape your tires and go on.

    4. Wood Canyon has a stretch of stickiness.

    5. Sage Trail - rocks! Ride it up and down or up Ranch Center road and down Sage.

Yes. That's normally how it looks when it's in runoff mode. Storms have occasionally taken out roads and trails.

Abui - Yeah it's been a long while since I rode Santa Monica's and I forgot that not all trails are sand, sandstone, DG, or Shale like out here in the desert. Maybe I'll bring the road bike too and a good book - just in case.

Hope you are healing up well and get back on the bike soon!

Worse case scenario we ride up and down the canyon and drink beer and watch movies and eat popcorn.

:?: Of the 857 weather sites I have bookmarked, only a couple say showers. The others say partly sunny. Why can't they just f'n agree. Is someones bursitis worse than someone else's
    How aggravating!
How is everyone feeling at this point? Should I cancel and make it a picnic day ride? :?::?::?:
    Advice please!

I've been watching weather for years 'cause I commute on a motorcycle. Of the online sights weather.com is usually the most accurate. And believe it or not the TV weather forecasts are the most accurate but both change regularly as the weather models change. The forecasts haven't changed much in the last 24 hours and weather.com is showing showers on Friday and rain on Saturday. In a couple days it may all go away. But probably not. Sorry Liz.

If this gets cancelled, I'll reschedule for a better time. Worst case, I'll cancel and then set it up as a day ride. It's a long drive for some but worth the drive if you've never been there!

I rode the park yeaterday and if we don't get too much more rain, it should be a perfect weekend. Only the back side of wood ranch is really muddy.
